The Business Case - Skyy Design Workshop
Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) form the backbone of Singapore’s economy, but keeping pace with industry demands can be a challenge. Skyy Design Workshop Pte Ltd, a creative services firm in the events industry, faced this hurdle head-on. Skills gaps within their team limited productivity, hindering their ability to meet performance targets. Recognising the potential of data analytics to streamline operations and fuel growth, Skyy Design Workshop took a strategic step – enrolling two new hires in WSG’s Career Conversion Programme (CCP) for SME Executives.
The programme proved to be a game changer in helping Mr Steven Lim, who was previously from a non-SME, to acclimatise to an SME environment. Mr Lim also picked up project management skills and has helped the company optimise project timelines and budgets with greater accuracy. This allowed Skyy Design Workshop to identify and eliminate process bottlenecks, leading to a significant boost in resource efficiency.
The benefits went beyond efficiency. The CCP also equipped Mr Lim with a strong understanding of sustainable business practices. This knowledge has allowed Skyy Design Workshop to integrate environmental responsibility into their operations, aligning with the growing emphasis on sustainability in the industry.
“The skills and knowledge I gained from the CCP have enabled me to transit smoothly into my new role. I feel well-equipped and confident that I can develop my career further,” says Mr Lim.
Mr Don Lim, General Manager of Skyy Design Workshop, views the company’s participation in the programme as a worthwhile investment, saying, “Our staff learnt many best-in-class practices from the structured and comprehensive programme. This knowledge is invaluable for us to stay relevant and continue developing our workforce.”
