A measure that would remove from the California Constitution the exception that allows for involuntary servitude as punishment for a crime passed the Senate Committee on Public Safety yesterday.

Alexandre Bissonnette, that it is cruel and unnatural to sentence people to life imprisonment without a possibility of parole, and therefore is a violation to the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
