No matter what career you choose to follow, or are already engaged in, it is important that you keep learning and developing your skills.
You can start carrying out a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis to identify the areas that you need to develop or improve on. This tool, used by companies, can be applied to you as an individual in relation to your current position. What are you able to control (internal factors - motivation, enthusiasm)? What is outside your control (external factors - economic recession)?
The SWOT analysis also reveals the potential threats that may prevent you from being successful. In some cases, you may not possess the relevant qualifications, so you might reassess your goals.
Setting goals is an important point towards a right approach to your professional career and to know where to direct all your efforts.
Where appropriate, it may be necessary to seek external support from a careers specialist.
