#CelebrateFriends - It doesn’t come out of yours!

The other day I had the absolute pleasure of tuning into a LinkedIn live video chat with my good friend John Espirian, hosted by Juma Bannister

You can catch the replay here :

The biggest challenge for me was that I had another friend hosting a LinkedIn audio testing room at exactly the same time, and had to make the tough decision and which one to join…

SORRY BETH !!

Not only did I join the LinkedIn Live, but I actually took extra steps to celebrate the fact that John was being interviewed and, by sharing the link and graphics across my various social platforms to help raise awareness to my own audience.

Far too often in business these days people are so focused on their own thing, that they really take time out to celebrate those around them, let alone actively promote others.

For me it is a simple decision to consciously support and promote the incredible people around me, because I understand one very important thing…

‘IT DOESN’T COME OUT OF MINE’

If you’re not sure what I mean by this, let me explain. There is plenty of work to go around, and we live in a world of abundance, despite what you might hear from the media.

Already having shared a little in this blog and newsletter series about your network being your net worth in an article called Networking or Net Work In [ https://in9.media/20220111 ] , it is a strong reminder that those around you when chosen carefully will raise you up, support you, encourage you and ultimately hold you accountable to perform at a higher level!!

My good friend John is an incredible technical copywriter, who has become very well known for his efforts on LinkedIn, and the data driven tests he carries out and shares with his audience.

Wherever possible I tried to make a conscious effort to actively promote the great people I am honoured to call my friends and associates.

I actually take this a step further and have a series, following the hashtag #CelebrateFriends - which you can follow across the various social platforms, as an opportunity not only to celebrate my friends and connections in my network, but also to actively encourage others to do the same.

Quite often anyone who does this sort of thing may celebrate those where there is no conflict of interests, however they may be more wary around supporting those directly within their industry.

As an agency at In9.Media, some of our best clients are actually other agencies, because of some shared principles and understanding that we can work together, support each other and that there is far more work to go around than any of us can reasonably expect to deliver.

Supporting those in your network is just a good human trait, and when done properly, more often than not sees both you and those you are celebrating achieving better results and reaching more people.

Realising that someone else getting work hasn’t taken away from you, frees you up to approach people you may have never considered, to collaborate more, and ultimately to reach networks you never thought possible!

I personally take this celebration of others very seriously, and under my #CelebrateFriends hashtag, I actually try it wherever possible to schedule regular promotional posts for others into my feed.

This not only is good for our relationship, but it is also good for others in my network, as it opens new opportunities for them to get help and support that we may not otherwise offer, or if we do to give them an alternative from a trusted supplier!

What do you think?

Be honest with yourself, and if you’re brave enough, share in the comments or message me directly and let me know how proactively you celebrate those around you, and are genuinely happy for the success of others in your network.

Remember collaboration is key to higher levels of success, and the work they get doesn’t take out of yours, so help them, and watch what happens!

Oh yes Tristan Celebrate the success of your friends! Too often business people celebrate the cut and thrust of business rather than supporting the people who support them.

Another valuable article, Tristan. "...the work they get doesn’t take out of yours". That resonates. I'll bear it in mind the next time a devil on my shoulder tries to prevent me from drawing attention to somebody else's fabulousness. It won't dull mine. It will make me shine even more brightly. ✨

Agree, Tristan! We all need a bit of encouragement from our friends and colleagues. It’s not ‘pod’ behaviour, it’s being supportive. 👏🏼👏🏼💥💥

No worries. We had a full event. Until we can be in two places at once, that's what happens.
