Celebrating Kisan Diwas with a Story of Resilience, Innovation, and Empowerment

The Lifeblood of Our Nation

Agriculture is the cornerstone of India's economy, employing nearly 50% of the nation's workforce and contributing over 16% to the GDP, according to a report.

Despite this, farmers face numerous challenges, including small landholdings, climate change, and limited access to markets.

On Kisan Diwas today, we honor their resilience and explore how collaborations, such as that between Two Brothers Organic Farms® (TBOF) and Delhivery, are enhancing farmers' livelihoods.

Reconnecting with the Roots: Two Brothers Organic Farms’ Story

The journey of Two Brothers Organic Farms (TBOF) began in 2012 with a mission to reconnect with sustainable agriculture and honor the land. Founders Satyajit and Ajinkya, leaving behind corporate careers, embraced regenerative farming in Maharashtra’s Bhodani village. Starting small by selling organic fruits in Mumbai’s Bandra market, they evolved into pioneers of ethical and sustainable farming practices.

Their efforts have gone beyond producing organic food—they’ve created a movement. Today, TBOF collaborates with over 10,000 farmers, offering:

  • Hands-On Training: Farmers visit their farms to learn sustainable techniques firsthand.
  • Heirloom Seeds: Providing seeds suited for organic cultivation to produce nutrient-dense crops.
  • Guidance and Support: A dedicated team helps farmers at every stage—from planting to harvest.
  • Fair Pricing: Ensuring farmers earn above-market rates, rewarding their shift to organic farming.

These initiatives ensure not just better incomes but also a sense of dignity and purpose for farmers.

Farmers: Pioneers of Sustainability

Regenerative farming, practiced at TBOF, is a shining example of how agriculture can restore ecosystems. Over the years, TBOF’s practices have sequestered over 100,000 tons of carbon, helping combat climate change. These achievements underscore the critical role farmers play not just in feeding the nation but in healing the planet.

TBOF’s efforts also foster community growth, with a focus on empowering rural women and creating sustainable livelihoods. Their story is a testament to the transformative power of farming when rooted in respect for nature and people.

Taking Farmers’ Hard Work to the Nation: Delhivery’s Role

While farmers nurture the soil, it’s logistics that bridges their efforts to the end consumer. Delhivery, India’s largest fully integrated logistics provider, has been instrumental in connecting farmers to markets across the country. With its expansive reach, Delhivery ensures that organic produce from TBOF reaches every corner of India.

Key Contributions by Delhivery:

  • Nationwide Reach: Delhivery’s logistics network covers 99.5% of India’s population with a reach of over 18,700+ pin codes. This includes tier-2 and -3 cities along with remote areas that are often underserved. Small-scale farmers and producers can use this to their advantage to access markets like never before. With this, Delhivery upholds its key role of creating an inclusive supply chain.
  • Reducing Post-Harvest Losses: Agriculture in India suffers from a post-harvest loss rate of approximately 20% due to inadequate storage and delayed logistics. Delhivery's efficient operations ensure that perishable items like fresh fruits, vegetables, dairy, and organic products are transported quickly, preserving their quality and reducing wastage.
  • Efficient Last-Mile Delivery: Delhivery’s extensive last-mile delivery capabilities ensure that agricultural produce reaches customers’ doorsteps in optimal condition. This includes timely deliveries that maintain the quality and freshness of organic products. Whether in metropolitan cities or rural households, this reliability builds consumer trust in the farmers' produce, encouraging repeat business.
  • Tech-Driven Supply Chain Solutions: Delhivery leverages advanced technology like predictive analytics, real-time tracking, and AI-based route optimization. These tools help farmers and agricultural businesses monitor shipments, anticipate delivery timelines, and reduce operational inefficiencies. For perishable goods, this precision is critical to maintaining product quality.

This collaboration ensures that the farmers’ hard work is not lost in transit but reaches consumers in its purest form.

A Shared Vision for a Sustainable Future

The combined efforts of TBOF and Delhivery exemplify how innovation and commitment can transform the agricultural landscape. Together, they create opportunities for farmers to thrive, consumers to access better food, and the environment to recover.

As we celebrate #KisanDiwas, let us remember that every meal we enjoy is a product of a farmer’s labor and dedication.

By supporting initiatives like TBOF and Delhivery, we can contribute to a future where farmers are celebrated, empowered, and equipped to lead us towards sustainability.

To all our farmers—thank you for being the stewards of our soil, our sustenance, and our future.
