Celebrating Sandra's 5th work anniversary!

We're excited to introduce Sandra, our Operational Marketing Assistant at betPawa, who is now celebrating her fifth year with us! 🎉 In honour of this occasion, we've asked her to share some insights with us...

Can you describe a typical day in your role? What are the key tasks and responsibilities you handle?

On a normal day, I look forward to a busy day. On most days I log in to Slack by 8 a.m., where I confirm with my line manager the tasks we need to prioritise and what I need to get done by the end of the day.

Some of my key responsibilities are briefing copy and creative tasks for content on our websites and socials. Once these materials are ready, I ensure the new content (sports article, news, or winner story) is published on our websites.

I also prepare campaign launches, support performance marketing initiatives and maintain databases and other documentation by keeping them up to date.

Five years is a significant milestone! Looking back, what achievements are you most proud of during your time with us?

Five years ago, I saw an opportunity for professional growth when I joined betPawa as a Customer Service Agent. I must say I'm most proud of achieving my personal development goals.

Five years ago, I recall I was quite shy, less proactive and would rather be in the background than take any leadership role. However, being part of the first group of hires in the Ghana 🇬🇭 office, I had to help my new colleagues learn on the job for us to meet our team's target and KPIs.

Given this, I was given a leadership role as a Customer Support Supervisor. It became expedient for me to take short courses in leadership for me to excel in this role. I became a better communicator, had more self-confidence in my line of work and also became a mentor to my colleagues 🙌🏾


Can you share a memorable achievement or moment from your previous department that you believe has contributed to your growth?

By my third year with betPawa, I was made the Support Excellence Coach in the Customer Support department. This was quite a big opportunity which contributed immensely to my career growth.

I was responsible for ensuring that support agents meet their targets and KPIs, by coaching and training them to be better at handling customer queries. In this journey, I became more self-reliant, proactive and organised in achieving my goals for the team. This was a whole learning process for me as I developed an ethic of caring for my team while building trust with them for the advancement of betPawa as a whole.

What do you enjoy most about working in marketing?

Marketing is wholly a human industry and as such, the thrill of working on creative ideas and campaigns to meet the ever-changing customer trends is what I enjoy most while working in the field. I'm very thankful to betPawa for the great opportunity for me to carve a career path for myself in the field.
