The Challenge of being a Digital Marketer
Three years ago I decided to change … after 15 years acting as an entrepreneur in different kind of businesses, I decided to follow my primary desire to work with Marketing. As I have always been passionate about innovation and seeing a market trend, I chose to dedicate myself to Digital Marketing. From then on, I defined the necessary steps and defined the goals for this great change.
It was not easy to give up a path built over those years, but the longing to work with something I was passionate about was greater than my fear. When things have to happen, they end up coming together unexpectedly: already decided that I wanted to change careers, my husband, who is a doctor, received the news that he had won a prize and that we would move to spend 01 year and a half In the United States. It was the missing shove! I sold my business and put all my efforts in my newest profession: Specialist in Digital Marketing.
I spent a year doing a specialization in Digital Marketing at New York University and there I learned that my path once again would cross with my doctor husband. Why? Doctors learn from the beginning that their profession needs continuous updating, since medicine is constantly and rapidly evolving. And so is the life of the professional who chooses to work with Digital Marketing.
Every day new applications, new Social Media and new updates of the existing tools appear. In addition to creativity, the Digital Marketing professional needs to keep up with these frequent changes, discover trends and keep up with this dynamic, fast and innovative market. For me, this is fascinating and extremely motivating.
Therefore, being passionate about your work is critical to succeed in this area. In addition to tracking all the major news sources on the market by using an RSS feed (I love Feedly), I am now investing in a program from Udacity (known as the University of Silicon Valley), the Nanodegree Digital Marketing. Digital Marketer’s life is like this … mending one course in the other.
