“Champions of Spatial Transformation” - MEC Maile


Yesterday, the MEC for Human Settlements and Infrastructure Development, Lebogang Maile participated in the Gauteng Provincial Legislature’s (GPL), Annual Report Debate. “During the 2022-23 financial year, the Department of Infrastructure Development (DID) completed 14 infrastructure projects on behalf of client departments within the Gauteng City Region, with eight infrastructure projects completed on behalf of the Department of Health” said MEC Maile.  “We are working tirelessly to position the Human Settlements and Infrastructure Development portfolios as champions of the Gauteng Provincial Government’s socio-economic and spatial transformation agenda, through sustainable infrastructure development and human settlements” added MEC Maile. 

Significantly the DID facilitated the creation of 8 0528 work opportunities through the Gauteng Provincial Government Departments & municipalities, while 1 909 beneficiaries were successfully trained.  The DID completed 80 maintenance projects on behalf of the Department of Health against a target of 80 maintenance projects for the year under review, whilst STARS managed to complete a total of 52 maintenance projects against a target of 47.
