Change Management with Dr. Mandolen Mull
This week's episode was an incredible surprise about the wonders of human capability. Dr. Mandolen Mull is an expert in leadership with a passion for change management but that's not the surprise. I often do not meet guests until the day we record the episode and as our conversation evolved, I picked up an accent in her speech. Since I also have an accent, being born in Venezuela, I thought to ask her because she had state earlier that she was a Texas girl. Well, what happen next totally changed the focus of this episode, or did it?
We Suck at Change
The main thing I quickly understood about change is that we, humans, suck at it. It does not come easy, and embellishing it with fancy words like "transformation" does not change its nature. Change is not our nature, but it could be adopted into our lives. Dr. Mull confirmed my thoughts that even our brain does not like change and as the energy hog that it is, it will try to sabotage us each step of the way. Just think about it, it's February, how's your new year's resolution going? Mine is terrible, I hope yours is still valid. Yes, I know, there's still hope.
Mandolen's Life Change
I really recommend you listen to the episode because Dr. Mull is living proof that we can do what today we may deem as unthinkable. The short version of it is that she was diagnosed with Chron's disease and the medicine she took led to a brain injury which left her unable to talk and walk. This is where the story of her accent begins.

Absolutely love this highlight on Mandolen Mull, Ph.D.'s innovative approach! 🌟 It reminds me of what Bruce Lee once said: "Be water, my friend" - emphasizing the power of adaptability in not just martial arts, but in life and leadership as well.
