Changes are Coming for Dangerous Goods Restrictions on the Ambassador Bridge
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) has announced that it will lift the restrictions on the transportation of Class 3 and Class 8 dangerous goods across the Ambassador Bridge.
This policy change, which comes into effect on October 29, 2024 will allow the transportation of these hazardous materials on the bridge. However, the movement of these goods will be restricted to off-peak hours and will require the presence of vehicle escorts to ensure safety.
The Ontario Trucking Association has been a strong supporter of aligning the regulations of the transportation of dangerous goods across the bridge with those in place at other major Canada-U.S. border crossings. The bridge's website will soon be updated with detailed information about the new procedures and guidelines for transporting Class 3 and Class 8 dangerous goods under the revised regulations.
