Chapter 3: The power of words
"Words are free. It's how you use them that may cost you." -KushandWizdom
Did you know? We have a thought every 1 to 5 seconds in a day. As per the National Science Foundation, 95% of these thoughts are repetitive. This means that we are not progressing, we are stuck in our thoughts.
Why do you think that is?
Is that because of procrastination?
Is it because of the attitude that what if I can't?
This itself is a self-limiting belief!
In my opinion, words come just afterthought is conceived. But often our thoughts are our biggest self-limiting beliefs...
How do we overcome these self-limiting thoughts and how do we train our minds to move forward?
To achieve this, we need to make a conscious effort to change how we think, think, and act on our thoughts. You need awareness in your life to overcome these self-limiting beliefs. You have to be aware of what you are thinking.
Let’s take two statements for example and see which is more self-limiting.
"I am going to try to climb that mountain" versus
"I am going to climb that mountain"
Now, out of these two, the former is creating a crossroad in your mind that maybe you will climb the mountain or maybe you won’t. On the contrary, the second sentence asserts in your mind that you will definitely climb that mountain and in a way that creates more confidence in your mind to accomplish that goal. So, you see how just a change in the way you think can make you go closer to your goals and make achieving your goals a reality.
So, this brings us to the conclusion that we need to change the way we think, and that will eventually change how we speak. The way we use the words will directly impact our life, career, business, relationships, health, and more. Be more conscious of choosing the right words for they truly have the power to change your life.
