A Comprehensive Guide on How to Microdose

I've covered different aspects of microdosing on this blog, but I'll show you how to microdose in this article. Continue reading to find out the right way to microdose consciously, effectively, and safely.

Before we delve into the details, you need to know when microdosing is not advisable. These are some of the cases when you shouldn't microdose:

  • Microdosing in combination with drugs like lithium carbonate, tramadol, or alcohol
  • If you're younger than 18 years old
  • When you are tapering off an anti-anxiety medication or antidepressants
  • If you are color blind
  • In cases of a physical or mental illness or condition
  • If you're pregnant or breastfeeding
  • In extreme life situations like grief

According to the Fadiman Protocol, which I will show you the protocol in this article. However, according to your preference, you can still make changes to them. A key thing to note is that the Fadiman Protocol remains the most popular schedule for microdosing,

The protocol seeks to assist microdosers so that they can enjoy the effects on their daily lives. Fadiman Protocol follows a 3-day cycle process over four to eight weeks.

Microdosing Protocol:

  • Day 1: First microdosing day
  • Day 2: Transition day
  • Day 3: Normal day
  • Day 4: Second microdosing day

Steps to Follow When Microdosing

Microdosing goes beyond knowing the Fadiman Protocol alone. You also need to understand the steps to follow, and I've taken the time to explain these steps below.

Step One: Microdose preparation

The most important thing for everyone is to understand how to measure the microdose accurately. It's best to use liquid or dried substances when microdosing rather than fresh products. This is for consistency as you measure each dose.

When measuring your microdose, I recommend using an electric scale that can measure in two decimals. Start with the smallest dose and gradually taper it on each microdosing day.

In the Netherlands, you can easily purchase ready-to-use magic truffles. You may not need a scale to measure them, as dealers have already done this. According to your preference, the only thing is to store them properly in portions.

The recommended dose for magic truffles is 0.2 to 1.0g, fresh microdosing truffles are 0.5 to 2.0g, and dried magic mushroom is 0.1 to 0.3g.

Step Two: Start with the First Microdose

I'll advise you to start the first microdose on a day you don't have anything to do. Take the microdose before 10 am and on an empty stomach to get the effects faster. Most people experience an increase in their energy level, so it's best to start in the morning. Also, you may not be able to sleep at night if you start the microdose late in the day.

If you start to feel too strong due to your dose, you may also experience other symptoms. They include restlessness, confusion, headache, or lack of focus. You should note that you cannot experience a trip from a small dose. You only need to be able to navigate the experience you get, and here's how to do it:

  • Relax and meditate
  • Don't resist the experience
  • Take a walk
  • Try breathwork
  • Listen to music

You also need to know how to handle cases of unpleasant physical reactions. Here's what to do:

  • Determine the cause of the physical reaction. You may be reacting to a high dose or a completely different substance.
  • Try to connect with the feeling you get. Find a way to focus and sit with the feeling.
  • Perform a self-examination of the sensation you're getting. Remember that anything can cause headaches and other physical reactions.

Whichever the case may be, the experience will teach you self-awareness and how to act in different situations.

Step Three: Have a Journal for Microdosing

This is very important, especially if it's your first microdosing experience. It pays to keep a journal where you document your feelings, insights, and observations from the very first microdosing day. This is a strategy to check in with yourself daily and ascertain the type of changes you are experiencing. With the journal, you can easily translate your observations into actionable points.

Step Four: Create Subtle Awareness

Day 2: Transition Day

You don't need to microdose the day after your first dose. The second day is referred to as the transition day. This is because the substances remain in the body and brain for up to two days. It's important to stay conscious of these days, especially concerning thoughts, experiences, and feelings. Also, remember to take notes of your experience on the second day and add them to your journal.

Step Five; Resetting the Body

Day 3: Normal Day

Also, a day you won't microdose is normal since the substance is not active in the body. Adding normal days to the microdosing routine will help prevent tolerance from developing over time. It will also allow you to differentiate between transition days and normal days.

Step Six: Finding a Sweet Spot

Day 4: Second microdosing day

You should consider taking the substance again on the fourth day as you did on the first day. When microdosing, a major achievement is being able to determine your perfect dose. This is the sweet spot we are talking about.

Microdosing should not interfere with your social interactions and daily activities. You know you have found your sweet spot when you can feel the substance and carry on with other activities.

Here are some of the indicators to help you know when you find your sweet spot:

  • If you forget that you took a microdose during the day
  • You start to feel a sense of effortlessness and wonder as you go about your activities
  • You sit and think and conclude that it was a great day.

Regardless of the situation, you should become aware of the substance and its effect on your system.

Step Seven: Create a Balance

Day 4 to 30

Microdosing remains one of the most powerful tools that you can use. However, this doesn't mean you should go about microdosing daily. Always remember that less is more, and psilocybin stays in the body for up to 48 hours. With that in mind, microdosing can only cause your body to develop tolerance. It will eventually become a habit you'll start struggling to deal with. Think of it as drinking coffee and how it can become a habit

When microdosing becomes a habit, it becomes difficult to monitor. It will start to affect your behavior and even your productivity, mood, and creativity with time. However, by following Fadiman's Protocol, you can easily avoid developing tolerance.

In addition to following the microdosing protocol, it's also advisable to take breaks for at least one month. Doing this will also assist you in preventing psychological habituation. One of the reasons for doing this is because there isn't much research to examine the long-term effects of microdosing.

Conclusion

So there you have it, the Fadiman Protocol for safe microdosing. By following this protocol, you can enjoy all the benefits of microdosing and successfully avoid developing tolerance. Microdosing will also ensure that you don't experience the negative effects of the substance you're microdosing.

If you want to start microdosing, I recommend using magic truffles for their powerful effects and benefits. At Microdose Bros, we offer different types of magic truffles. They include Psilocybe Tampanensis and Psilocybe Mexicana, and Psilocybe Galindoi.
