Registration now open for the 2023 Mayor’s State of the County and Open House events!

Sturgeon County residents and business owners are invited to attend one of two State of the County events being held in September to celebrate past successes and get a preview of what the future holds for the county.

“We took a very different approach to the State of the County this year,” said Mayor Alanna Hnatiw.

“Previous events had more of a business focus, and there wasn’t the same type of event that would appeal to residents. It’s important to Council that we provide opportunities to connect with residents, have those important conversations, and we’re excited to try something different with this year’s State of the County events.”

In addition to the traditional mayoral address, the events will include an open house component that will provide attendees the opportunity to ask questions about Sturgeon County Council’s strategic priorities and other topics important to attendees. There will be two State of the County events this year, both of which run from 6 pm to 9 pm:

“We’re really excited to have one of our events at CFB Edmonton this year as it also provides a unique opportunity for residents to come in and learn more about the amenities there,” said Hnatiw.

“Sturgeon County has a recreational agreement with the Garrison, which means that County residents can access the recreational facilities at a reduced rate. If people are interested in learning more about the facilities, we are inviting them to head over early, starting at 5 pm, for a tour before the State of the County event begins.”

Both events will follow the same format, which will include a speech from Mayor Hnatiw, followed by an open house. The open house is an opportunity for attendees to meet with members of Council and Administration to discuss in more detail topics covered in the Mayor’s address or other matters top-of-mind.

The event is free and open to County residents and business owners and will include light snacks, beverages, and door prizes.

Note that guests attending the September 21 event at CFB Edmonton should have their government-issued photo identification.

Registration is open until midnight on Thursday, September 14.
