Copernilabs Newsletter: 1st and 2nd week of December 2024

Discover the highlights at Copernilabs during the first two weeks of December 2024.

Workshops

The first week of December was marked by the end of the Northern Data Group AI Accelerator program, with workshops on commercial, market strategy and technical themes. On December 5, 2024, our team, represented by the Vice President, took part in a business workshop in London organized by Northern Data Group in the business district. This workshop aimed to help participating startups consolidate their business strategy plans and structure their presentations.

Our engineers also participated in the NVIDIA A DLI (Deep Learning Institute) workshop, aimed at redefining and optimizing their products. Key points from this technical workshop included:

- Improved problem solving through iterative prompt engineering: The workshop provided an opportunity to adopt best practices for leveraging LLMs as a complement to our computer vision applications.

- Simplified workflow integration with LangChain: Learning how to use LangChain has allowed us to efficiently organize and compose LLM workflows, making them interoperable with our computer vision models.

- Accelerated prototyping and innovation: The hands-on experience gained has enabled our team to prototype and test innovative ideas faster, combining LLMs and computer vision for more comprehensive solutions in document analysis, pattern recognition, and real-time data interpretation.

Another workshop marking the end of the accelerator program was dedicated to sustainability in the AI sector. This workshop invited us to think about integrating sustainability into our strategy, with the aim of reducing our carbon footprint. We favor data centers powered by renewable energy, such as those at Northern Data Group 's TAIGA Cloud, which run entirely on carbon-free energy.

Events

• On December 5th, our Vice President participated in Northern Data Group 's commercial workshop in London, while our CEO spoke as a panelist at the Systematic Photonics Forum "Photonics Excellence Day" at the Institut d'Optique de Paris, where he led a workshop on AI and photonics convergence.

Another highlight was Copernilabs' participation in Oracle's Data and AI Forum. Invited by Oracle, our CEO and an AI engineer participated in this forum bringing together several players in the AI ecosystem. We learned about Oracle's advances in AI, both in terms of hardware resources and infrastructure as well as LLM/Generative AI, Machine Learning and Deep Learning models. The day ended with a visit to the Parc des Princes, PSG's stadium.

• On 19 December, our CEO took part in the meeting of the Defence and Security working group of Afigéo and the Joint Geographical Establishment (EGI), to discuss their current missions and challenges.https://www.afigeo.asso.fr/;https://www.afigeo.asso.fr/groupes-de-travail/gt-defense-et-securite/

•  On December 17, our CEO participated in the forum "Cyber in Space" organized by Systematic, where experts addressed the legal, technological, and contextual aspects of cybersecurity in space. Discussions focused on themes such as "From Earth to Satellites," "Satellites," and "From Satellites to Earth."

A key point of this forum was the role of embedded systems in satellites (notably software and AI algorithms) and the vulnerability of ground infrastructures (antennas) to cyberattacks. An illustrative example is the attack suffered by Viasat in 2022, which paralyzed its operations and those of its clients.

• On December 19, we were invited to participate in the COMET-CYB "Innovation in Space Cybersecurity." This forum aimed to review ongoing R&T or research projects at the intersection of cybersecurity and space and explore future perspectives in this field.

• On December 3, our CEO attended the end-of-year cocktail evening of Citizen Entrepreneur in Paris, held at the offices of Factory Avocats. This event focused on sharing experiences among G20YEA members (Alumni, partners, and community members) and fostering future synergies.

The CEO also participated in the Paris Forum as a partner, following an invitation from the OECD. This annual European event of FEIA, known as the Paris Conference, aims to promote international trade between Europe and the Americas while encouraging broader global relations likely to generate positive changes.

 Recognition

• Copernilabs ' work has been cited as a reference by members of the Tesla Motors Club. • Copernilabs was highlighted in Scaleway 's latest newsletter, "The AI-PULSE 2024 by Scaleway ," which showcases significant advancements in artificial intelligence in Europe. This document highlights inspiring individuals as well as companies and startups actively contributing to this thriving ecosystem.
