😏Could Your Nutrition Be Sabotaging Your Wellness Goals?

Is Your Food Giving You All the Nutrients You Need?

👋 Hi Wellness Seekers,

Most of us don’t think much about whether our food is truly giving us the specific nutrients needed in the right amounts to stay healthy—but we should. To keep our bodies functioning optimally today and for the future, we need certain nutrients in specific amounts. todworld, however, getting all those nutrients from food alone is becoming harder than ever.

🌱 Is Our Food Supply Nutrient Deficient?

A balanced diet is always essential, but modern farming and food distribution have introduced challenges that limit the nutritional value of our food. Industrial farming often involves rapid, continuous planting, which prevents the soil from replenishing essential minerals. Many crops are also genetically modified (GMOs) to survive being sprayed with toxic weed killers like glyphosate (Roundup) and pesticides. This allows for extensive chemical use, but it also means the crops absorb these toxins—and we consume them. Choosing non-GMO or organic foods can help reduce exposure to these chemicals and provide a cleaner, potentially healthier choice.

🌊 The Impact of Glyphosate

One of the most common herbicides, glyphosate, doesn’t just stay in the fields. It seeps into the soil and runs off into rivers, lakes, and oceans, contaminating water sources and harming ecosystems along the way. This widespread exposure adds to the chemical load our bodies must manage, making it harder to maintain health.

🚛 Distance and Time

Many foods travel hundreds, even thousands of miles, to reach our plates. During these long journeys, fresh produce loses vital nutrients. Many fruits and vegetables are harvested before they’re fully ripe to withstand transport, then gassed to “ripen” upon arrival, further reducing their nutrient density.

🥗 Can We Still Rely on Food for Nutrients?

Even when eating a nutritious diet, factors like age, digestive health, and medications can impact nutrient absorption. For example, you may consume foods rich in magnesium or zinc, but if your digestion is compromised, your body may not absorb these vital minerals fully. This is where supplements come in—they can help fill those nutritional gaps and support optimal health.

🧩 Zinc: The Often Overlooked Nutrient

One example, an essential mineral that’s often overlooked in nutrient discussions, is zinc. Zinc supports immune function, wound healing, DNA synthesis (the process by which cells create new DNA molecules, essential for cell growth, repair, and replication), and hormone balance, making it vital for overall health. Yet, much like magnesium, zinc can be harder to obtain from food alone, particularly for vegetarians, vegans, or those with digestive issues. Although zinc is naturally found in foods like oysters, red meat, poultry, pumpkin seeds, and nuts, absorption can be challenging, especially as we age or if we have digestive issues.

🌟 Why Supplementation Matters

With all these factors at play, it’s clear that food alone doesn’t always provide everything our bodies need. Let’s be real—who among us gets all their necessary nutrients from food on a regular basis? Supplements can help fill those gaps, providing critical nutrients that might be lacking due to today’s farming and food industry practices. A balanced diet complemented with the right supplement ingredients in the correct amounts is a good strategy for optimizing your health, today and for the future.

To cover the basics, I recommend starting with the Wellness Evolution Core Four supplements—a foundational “insurance policy” for essential nutrients. The Core Four consists of:

  • A high-quality multivitamin taken once daily.
  • A highly absorbable D3 with K2 (MK-7) for optimal bone and cardiovascular health.
  • A well-sourced, high-quality Omega-3 fish oil, known for its benefits for brain, heart, skin, and overall inflammatory health.
  • A broad-spectrum probiotic with multiple strains and a CFU count of at least 25 billion (colony-forming units) to support gut health, boost digestion, and strengthen immune function by restoring healthy bacteria in the gut.
