Supported by over 93% of parents, the law urges Congress to mandate social media platforms like Snapchat and TikTok to grant access to these safety tools. State Privacy Law Update: April 15, 2024

Here's a quick run-down on the Proposed US State Privacy Laws. Nebraska passed a consumer data privacy bill (LB 1074) resembling the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act. Colorado reviews two Colorado Privacy Act (CPA) amendments, addressing biometric data (HB 1130) and children's privacy (SB 41). California's SB 1223 and AB 3080 undergo committee hearings, while AB 2877 and AB 3286 are scheduled for April 23. Vermont discusses consumer data privacy (H.121) and the Age-Appropriate Design Code Act (S.289). Virginia's children's privacy bills (SB 361/HB 707) return to consider amendments. Colorado and California's efforts exemplify states enhancing privacy laws amid federal deliberations on the American Privacy Rights Act. US agencies to probe unfair practices in airline loyalty programs in hearing

The US Department of Transportation and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau will conduct a public hearing on May 9 to probe unfair practices in airline loyalty programs, aiming to safeguard consumers. Representatives from Allegiant Air and Breeze Airways will attend, alongside regulators, consumer advocates, and banking officials. This comes as a result of concerns over potential deceptive practices in frequent flyer programs and data handling by major US airlines.
