David Defries Jazz + Symphony Orchestra
Have just uploaded content to my youtube channel.
The sound is not that good, but with a good ear, most listeners will have a good idea of what went down. With minimal rehearsals, the orchestra did a great job with music rhythmically unfamiliar to them. A Brazilian Chorinho based on the harmonies of John Coltrane's "Giant Steps", A hybrid South African inspired piece, and a composition commissioned to honour the centenary of the birth of Thelonius Monk + 3 arrangements of works by Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn.
