The main subjects that have been discussed
- FTA agreement between Türkiye and Morocco and its current status
- The customer issues with Turkish products
- Free zones and industrial parcs with the requirements and the advantages of investing in Morocco which was the core subject of the visit
AMDIE, which is in charge of promoting the investment in Morocco, made a presentation detailed followed by heated discussion on how to put in action some steps that will really make from Morocco an attractive place for the Turkish companies to invest, also the difficulties of having access to the Moroccan market although the Turkish company honest willing to extend their existence in Morocco.
İt is impressive how within the last 2 decades, Morocco has witnessed a very fast development in the field of infrastructure, and took serious step to be a huge industrial hub especially in the aeronautical industry and automotive. With highways, industrial parcs and the access to important global markets.
Morocco also will be hosting the African cup 2025 and the world cup 2030.
· With the focus on having investors in the factory, these incredible Moroccan entities and agencies should be working also on the local Moroccan companies to get them to be more open and aggressive toward involving in JV.
· The companies unless they have a picture of how the market is moving and behaving, even Morocco is not the target market of the investment, yet the investors need to have their goods there first and many sectors are not like automotive or aeronautical sectors, so they need to know that there is a local market whatever its size for them before thinking of investing.
· Türkiye and Morocco can be very integrative and complementary to each other in many sectors and all needed is to ease a little bit the process and to review and activate seriously the FTA between the countries in a way that will flourish and accelerate the business exchange.
· There are already active Turkish companies in the kingdom with up to 15000 employment opportunities for locals.
These were just main comments, the discussions and presentation was detailed, and withing the coming months a conference is to be held in Istanbul extending this exchange and getting the business to somewhere.
The dedication of the ambassador himself Mr. Kılıç and the head of DEIK Morocco – Türkiye Mme. Okyay, with the interest and intention clearly for some of Turkish industrial leaders will definitely get to a result that will take this bilateral business relationship further.
