Research Study: Public/Private Partnerships between Local Government and Higher Education
Developing a Pipeline to Public Service
Cayla Rosenbaum is a graduate student at the University of Dallas in the Public and Nonprofit Management program. She is asking for help from our community of government professionals for a research study focusing on partnerships between local governments and higher education institutions, specifically examining if these partnerships exist, the factors driving them, and any barriers that might be impeding their development.
You all know that I’m a proponent of growing the local government profession by helping students looking to make a career in local government so, as I’ve done in the past (when possible), I’m using this space to tell you about one such student. In the interest of full disclosure, I’ll also share that this one is incredibly special for me. You see Cayla is part of the SGR family. She’s been working as a senior recruitment coordinator for SGR since 2021.
Her study explores the factors shaping partnerships between local governments and higher education institutions with a goal toward strengthening and sustaining these mutually beneficial partnerships. As part of her study, she’s conducting a short survey (5-10 minutes) geared toward executive-level local government officials (e.g., city and county managers, assistant managers) to gather first-hand insights.
