To Be Diabetic/Not To Be Diabetic

To Be Diabetic/Not To Be Diabetic

That’s the question, the doctor decides to answer on patient’s behalf, at his own discretion, irrespective of the insulin level. Some of the doctors declare a patient as diabetic when the sugar levels go higher than 110 (fasting), and 150 (post prandial). They also tell the patient that it is a life-time disease and not reversible!

As per the definition of diabetes, it is a chronic disease that occurs either when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin (quantity) or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces (quality). Due to this condition, sugar level of the patient increases beyond the normal level. But the converse is not true, i.e. when the sugar level increases, it doesn’t mean you become diabetic! Sugar level gets increased due to tens of different reasons, and diabetes is JUST ONE OF THEM. Some of the reasons for getting sugar levels increased –

1. Before and during a new venture.

 2. After any accidents.

 3. After a stroke.

 4. When a near and dear has died (due to grief).

 5. When one takes a lot of risks in life (like share market).

 6. Overthinking.

 7. Trauma.

 8. Due to lack of sex, or over sex.

 9. When someone has got a job.

10. When someone has lost a job.

11. When child goes away for studying (Empty nest Syndrome).

12. Under Loneliness.

13. When one works in finance and there is a lot of calculations.

14. When one drives constantly.

15. When one goes through a court case like property disputes.

16. When one is constantly criticized.

17. When one doesn't find love.

18. Due to consumption of too much CERELAC in the childhood.

19. When one has lost purpose in life.

20. When one has severe infection.

21. When one consumes a lot of water (beyond necessary).

22. When one doesn’t get enough sleep

and many more …

All the above conditions are not life-long, and one can come out of these, after some time, after handling these conditions through counselling / right medication. Once these conditions fade away, your sugar levels can come back to normal. During this period, the insulin characteristics does not alter significantly.

A study published in June 2023, in Lancet, estimates that 101 million people in India - 11.4% of the country's population - are living with diabetes. A survey commissioned by the health ministry also found that 136 million people - or 15.3% of the people - could be living with pre-diabetes. How many of these patients were tested only with blood sugar levels (fasting and PP) and not with the said insulin tests? The percentage of patients tested with Serum Insulin (measuring quantity of insulin produced), and Homeostatic Insulin Resistance (quality of insulin) could be much less compared to just sugar level tests. Now it looks like a BIG SCAM to me!

I am not a medical professional, but I could understand this based on my own experience. I was detected (!) diabetic in 2007 based on raised sugar levels. After 17 years, I met Rupam Das, Founder & CEO of Acculi Labs and went through his amazing Lyfas tests. Based on the analytics, he said that my sugar level was high due to overthinking, and I am not a diabetic. He asked me to confirm his findings through universally accepted Serum Insulin and Homeostatic Insulin Resistance tests. I had these tests this week and received the reports couple of days back. Both reports confirmed my insulin producing quantity and effectiveness are within the normal range. It wasn't possible to have normal insulin levels, if I had diabetes. Now I am no more diabetic! So, what do I do now? Celebrate for getting free from diabetes or curse for my lost 17 years? Well, I would rather create awareness among existing diabetes patients across the globe to validate if they have real diabetes or enforced one!

There are two types of diabetes Avinash Magdum insulin dependent and non insulin dependent. HOMA IR is all about insulin dependent diabetes. If you have sufficient insulin in your body that means your diabetes is non insulin dependent.
