Digital technologies continue to open up new horizons
This Wednesday, I had the pleasure of representing Siemens Healthineers at the NOAH Conference in Berlin. The fresh, open spirit of the event reminded me of the agile atmosphere I’m feeling in our company. NOAH was a great showcase for the ways that digital technologies are opening up new horizons in every industry.
Siemens Healthineers is committed to driving improvement in healthcare by leveraging digital technologies. One current example: Our eHealth Solutions [1] will enable the Swiss Post to network Swiss healthcare facilities. Soon, patients have greater control over their electronic medical records, and will be able to decide for themselves who in the healthcare continuum can access their medical documents and data — regardless of time and place. [2]
Another key initiative we are driving is the integration of in-vivo, in-vitro, and “omics” data to create a comprehensive picture of each patient and give providers finger-tip access to key information. This helps providers across the care continuum create individualized prevention, diagnosis and treatment plans. Our goal across all these initiatives is to help improve medical outcomes while reducing costs.
These are just two examples of the nearly limitless possibilities unlocked by digitalization in healthcare – and I am certain that there is much more to come. We live and breathe innovation, and we’re always looking for new talent, new thinking, and new perspectives from the world of clinical science and beyond. What connects us is the belief in improving patients’ lives through technology and data. What drives us is the will to increase value for our customers. We are pioneers, seeking new paths to better care.
