Distinguished Golf Destinations Presents Awards in Morocco

In November 2024, Ronald Banaszak, CCM, CCE , participated in a weeklong event in Morocco, which included a golf tournament, symposium and plenty of networking. The event's highlight was the presentation of the Distinguished Golf Destination Exceptional Status Awards to two new properties: Royal Golf de Fes and Oued Fes Golf. The awards ceremony occurred in front of 400 attendees, including 100 dignitaries and tourism representatives from Morocco and France.

Held from November 17 - 21, this event marked a key moment in the ongoing global expansion of Distinghished Golf Destinations. The awards showcased the unique features of the two Moroccan courses, both managed by Madaëf Golfs, one of the leading golf course management companies in Morocco.

Royal Golf de Fes, located just minutes from the center of Fez, is set 700 meters above sea level in the heart of an olive grove. Designed by Cabell B. Robinson, the 18-hole, par 72 course offers breathtaking views of the Middle Atlas mountains and a challenging layout with lakes and obstacles. Surrounded by the historical charm of Fez, including the UNESCO-listed Medina, the course combines natural beauty with rich cultural heritage.

Oued Fes Golf, not far from Fez, provides a different but equally impressive experience. Designed by Jonathan Gaunt, this eco-friendly course is seamlessly integrated with its natural surroundings. The course features winding fairways, water features and wooded areas, offering a serene golfing experience. Oued Fes is built with sustainability in mind, utilizing stormwater reservoirs and a design that respects the local landscape.

Both courses are part of Madaëf Golfs' effort to create innovative and environmentally responsible golf experiences. Their focus on modern technology and community-centered experiences aligns with DGD's mission to recognize destinations that deliver outstanding golf experiences.
