🚨 10 Social updates you might have missed this week…

🛍️ TikTok is experimenting with a feature that could make all posts on the app shoppable. The new test feature automatically identifies items in videos and directs viewers to 'find similar items on TikTok Shop.' - Bloomberg

🤳 Instagram is testing a new feature called Flipside, allowing users to create a custom profile to share exclusive content with a smaller group of friends or family. This feature aims to reduce the number of 'Finstas' (fake accounts for sharing more private content), resulting in increased usage and improved ad targeting.

🎶 Universal Music Group has started pulling tracks from some of the biggest artists after writing an open letter to TikTok regarding usage rights. Starting February 1st, many users have reported their videos featuring artists no longer have sound.

🎥 TikTok is encouraging creators to post videos in landscape format, offering to increase views on +1 minute landscape content. While this update incentivises more YouTube creators to cross-post content on TikTok, it also encourages users to consume longer-form content on the app.

📱 Instagram has introduced new AI stickers within Stories, a feature our Community team likes but can't see being used long-term by users or brands.

📈 YouTube has announced it has reached 100 million premium and music subscribers, increasing by 20 million in 2023. Additionally, YouTube has introduced new Playlist analytics, allowing creators to compare the performance of playlists side-by-side, encouraging users to group content.

🧵 Threads will soon have trending topics, similar to X, as the platform has announced that monthly active users reached 130 million at the end of Q4 2023.

📺 Want to see all the Super Bowl ads in one place? Well, now you can with YouTube’s new 2024 AdBlitz hub showcasing all Super Bowl campaigns.

🎰 X has partnered with Bet MGM to display sports gambling odds in-stream.

🎧 Spotify is expanding its partnership with Snapchat with a new Snapchat Lens, 'Share Track Lens,' allowing users to capture themselves or their surroundings and overlay the song title, artist name, cover art, and a link to listen to the track on Spotify.
