Dominate the mind and feed the ego

Our minds are always looking for ways to help us achieve goals that we think are the right driver for us: a car faster than our neighbor’s, a house bigger than our college friend, a perfectly taken picture from that last trip in the Maldives, a body like that of the celebrity we admire.

We always look for perfection and then we brag about it on social media because we want to look better, happier and more fulfilled than others do. Competition between us is well imprinted in our DNA.

We live in a confusing world where we have too many options regarding even the most simple things, like toothpaste.

The marketing industry, combined with social media had the biggest impact on shaping human behavior as it is now.

The marketers can transform the idea of "nice to have" into a "must-have". It is a demonstrated fact that most of us are taking the buying decision based on impulse. We have forgotten the difference between a “need” and a “desire”.

Obesity is killing more people than malnutrition.

We choose the taste over the nutrients. We choose the quantity over the quality. We choose the pleasure of “now” over a healthy future. We choose things that we don’t really need, over the simple and fulfilling things that can be obtained for free.

The marketers have a lot of responsibility.

There are horrifying examples of corporate greed all around the internet, and their greed has become our greed through marketing.

The marketing industry has the power to shape human behavior, educate and to empower. This is why this industry must be run on strong principles. But it isn’t.

We buy the dream, not the product.

Have you ever wondered why the automotive industry is using the „successful man” in their commercials for luxury cars?

Have you ever wondered why lingerie products are almost every time presented on perfectly shaped female bodies?

Have you ever wondered why influencers are making so much money?

Everyone has a void that needs to be filled.

We have all been fooled, lied to and robbed, at least once. Every day we see people wearing masks, we listen to words that deep inside our heads we need to hear them and we doubt our choices instead of questioning them.

We choose too much with our minds and we forget to use our hearts.

Greed

„We all have the right to affordable housing, medicine, education, and childcare, enough money to live on and medical help if we are ill or old.” Youthforhumanrights.org

Things should be easy, but they are not. What’s wrong?

I made a statement in the past about why humans are awesome, but I’m not blind at the negative behavior that led us to inequality between social classes and the destruction of our planet. The man exploited this planet and his fellow men since the beginning of time.

Lust, greed, anger are simple illustrations of a frustrated ego.

Craving for power and possessions will never be fulfilling enough.

„Greed always finds an endless field of conquest and leaves the individual endless dissatisfied. „

“As man advances in civilization, and small tribes are united into larger communities, the simplest reason would tell each individual that he ought to extend his social instincts and sympathies to all members of the same nation, though personally unknown to him. This point being once reached, there is only an artificial barrier to prevent his sympathies extending to the men of all nations and races.” ― Charles Darwin, The Descent of Man

The humankind has progressed very fast in the last 50 years in every possible industry. We have explored the universe, we have invented things that make our lives easier, we have conquered the unknown in so many areas. The technological progress in the last 10-15 years is mind-blowing.

But all this technological progress comes with great responsibility from every single human being.

It’s never been easier to do harm.

Not so long ago, World War II marked our history. This was the deadliest conflict in human history, marked by 70 to 85 million fatalities.

Can you imagine how a WW III would look like with all the technology we now have?

„Humanity needs to awaken its consciousness to match our technological progress” Vishen Lakhiani

“I have a dream!” regarding human progress as individuals and as a society. In my (many would say “utopic”) dream, humans are choosing their leaders based on their set of values and EQ. In my dream, I see unity, collaboration, and virtues.

I know that we are far from this dream, but small steps made by a few is also progress. Start with “the man in the mirror”, as MJ’s song goes.

If I had to sum it up in a single phrase:

I strongly believe that now we need more than ever to promote sympathy and respect for any type of life.

I would love to know your thoughts.

Yours,

Iustina
