DSFH Spotlight: Uniting Expertise for Exceptional Patient Care

DSFH Spotlight: Uniting Expertise for Exceptional Patient Care

Dear Everyone,

Another month has gone by at Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital in Jeddah, with many happy patients, medical successes, and busy Ramadan and Eid days. I am delighted to share the developments with you and thank you for following us.

We began the month of Ramadan by visiting our patients at our hospital, and on Eid, our patients were visited by our dear leader, Dr. Mazen Fakeeh, President of Fakeeh Care Group, and patient experience teams led by Ms. Sara Rumaikhani. All of these visits and rounds surely made our patients smile and feel warm throughout their stay at our hospital.

March was a significant month for both our Nephrology and Paediatric Cardiology departments. Another successful kidney transplant case demonstrated our dedication to excellence in these disciplines. Our NICU team's extraordinary care saved a newborn and demonstrated our dedication to excellence. Furthermore, the ENT team's successful thyroidectomy treatment on a 75-year-old lady was made possible by the emergency, ICU, OR, and nursing teams' invaluable efforts.

Many thanks to all of DSFH's unsung heroes. In this newsletter, we highlight one such hero, Abdul Latif, a passionate carpenter and artisan, and share additional details about his outstanding efforts.

We extended our commitment to education and outreach with instructive podcast episodes featuring our specialists, including Dr. Faisal Shaheen on kidney transplants, Dr. Othman al Othman on robotic heart surgery, and Omar Alqarni on bone injury prevention.

As we continue to face obstacles and celebrate our accomplishments, let us remember to priorities our health and encourage one another.

I wish everyone health, happiness, and wealth.

Best wishes,

Dr. Fatih Mehmet Gul

CEO at Dr.Soliman Fakeeh Hospital Jeddah

Spreading the joy of Eid al-Fitr with our patients at DSFH Jeddah

Sharing the happiness during the holy month of Ramadan, with our patients extending warm greetings and presenting gifts to share the spirit of this special month.

Celebrating Ramadan with delightful Iftar gatherings, the DSFH Jeddah family came together as a community to break the fast, foster team spirit, share stories, and strengthen the bonds during the holy month.

Multi-disciplinary Team of Experts Saves Newborn

In a touching moment at Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital's NICU in Jeddah, a newborn faced a serious struggle with significant gastrointestinal bleeding. The NICU team quickly stabilized the baby's vital signs and seamlessly coordinated with a multidisciplinary team of specialists comprising pediatric specialists, gastroenterologists, hematologists, and surgeons.

Together, they thoroughly checked the baby, leaving no stone unturned in their search for answers and treatment. They worked hard and planned carefully..

Thankfully, the bleeding stopped, and the baby got better. Seeing the strong baby recover brought great happiness to the family and pride to the medical team.

Successful Sternotomy Thyroidectomy: A Life-saving Procedure for a 75-Year-Old Patient

Doctors and staff at Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital in Jeddah recently teamed up for a crucial surgery, saving the life of a 75-year-old woman. The patient, with a history of high blood pressure, came to the emergency room struggling to breathe because of a large thyroid growth pressing on her windpipe.

A quick diagnosis revealed a suspicious mass on the thyroid, and a CT scan confirmed a retrosternal goiter, a growth extending behind the breastbone and compressing the airway. Faced with a life-threatening situation, the medical team sprang into action.

The surgery, performed late at night, involved securing the airway through awake intubation in the operating room. Due to the location and size of the growth, a complete resection required a sternotomy (cutting through the breastbone). The complex operation was a success, and after four days of recovery, the patient is now ready to return home safely.

The ENT department at Fakeeh Hospital extends their gratitude to all who played a part in this remarkable case. Particular thanks go to the emergency and ICU teams for stabilizing the patient, the anesthesia department for managing the difficult intubation, and Dr. Ashraf Maghrabi and his thoracic surgery team, who readily came in at night to perform the life-saving surgery. Finally, appreciation is given to all the dedicated OR staff and nurses whose contributions were essential to this successful outcome.

22-year-old Successfully Undergoes Challenging Kidney Transplant at DSFH Jeddah

In a story that warms the heart, Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital Jeddah played a pivotal role in reuniting two sisters and gifting one a precious second chance at life.

22-year-old Manal bravely battled chronic kidney disease, reaching stage 5 and relying on dialysis to survive. Witnessing her older sister's struggle, a healthy 21-year-old, knew she had to act. Driven by love, her sister courageously stepped forward as a kidney donor, giving Manal the promise of a life liberated from dialysis.

The exceptional multi-disciplinary transplant team at Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital Jeddah, led by the skilled Dr. Faissal Abdelrahim Mohammed Shaheen, meticulously evaluated both sisters. After confirming compatibility, they embarked on the life-changing transplant surgery in February 2024.

The patient’s condition was critical, explains Dr. Shaheen and dialysis was a lifeline, but a temporary one. This transplant offers her a chance to reclaim her life, a future free from constant dependence on machines. It's a beautiful testament to the power of sisterly love and the tireless dedication of our transplant team.

With a successful transplant surgery at DSFH Jeddah, the patient is on the road to recovery, with her latest creatinine level indicating healthy kidney function. The future looks bright as she continues her recovery under the watchful care of the hospital's transplant specialists.

Heartfelt Salute to DSFH's Behind-the-Scenes Heroes: Abdul Latif’s Dedication

At Dr. Soliman Fakeeh Hospital (DSFH), while the spotlight often shines on our frontline medical heroes, there exists a constellation of stars behind the scenes, whose light is just as critical to our success. Among these luminaries is Abdul Latif, a carpenter whose dedication and craftsmanship are the silent yet sturdy backbone of our hospital's daily operations.

Abdul Latif represents the essence of commitment and expertise, seamlessly addressing challenges and ensuring our facilities are resilient and ready to serve. His hands have fixed, built, and maintained the spaces where lives are saved, often without fanfare, but always with a sense of purpose. When you call for Abdul Latif, you don’t just get a solution to a problem; you witness a master at work, whose every action says, "I care."

This photo of Abdul Latif and me is more than a mere snapshot; it is a testament to the spirit of DSFH, a place where every contribution is valued, and every effort is recognized. It is a tribute to the hidden pillars of our hospital, like Abdul, our technicians, laundry teams, and technical teams, whose relentless dedication ensures the heartbeat of our operations never misses a rhythm.

To Abdul Latif and all our unsung heroes, your perseverance and loyalty light up the corridors of DSFH, creating a beacon of hope and excellence. We see you, we appreciate you, and we thank you for everything you do.

Let us all take a moment to celebrate these remarkable individuals. Their tireless dedication not only supports our hospital’s mission but also uplifts our spirits, reminding us of the power of unity and collective effort.
