Easier Database Management using DBaaS on E2E Cloud
Data is a crucial aspect of the workings of every organization. A huge amount of data is generated daily for all types of businesses, which is collected and used for several types of business activities. A study by TechJury showed that 1.145 trillion MB of data is created every day. The cloud is one of the most recent advancements in technology. It eliminates the need for organizations to buy and maintain the hardware and develop and update the software required for the day-to-day operations of the servers. Although 67 percent of enterprises are on the cloud, only a small percentage of businesses use it for managing big data.
A challenge in this regard is managing the database with ease and ensuring its security. New technologies are being added to the database domain to make it more flexible. DBaaS is one such development that makes it easier to navigate through the vast data that is collected. DBaaS makes it easy for you to store, organize, manipulate, and retrieve data that is collected or generated on a daily basis.
On Premise Database vs DBaaS
On-premise Database servers are a part of the IT infrastructure in an organization’s data center and are installed, managed, and run by the organization’s staff, including a Database Administrator (DBA). A DBA configures and manages the database. On the other hand, the service providers provide the infrastructure to manage the DBaaS. This way, the tech team of the organization does not have to worry about maintenance, upgrades and configuration.
When using DBaaS, you don’t have to worry about the building and deployment of the infrastructure. The data in the database remains under the control of the customer and the role of the DBA is then limited to the use of the database and can, thus, focus their attention on other aspects such as optimizing databases for applications.
Another important difference between the two is that DBaaS is a fee-based subscription service. Instead of buying and deploying the resources, they can simply be done on a pay as per use model.
Why go for DBaaS?
The reasons to go for DBaaS are many. Here, we have highlighted a few of them.
E2E’s DBaaS Services
E2E provides a selection of node types to choose from depending on your different relational database use cases. E2E’s DBaaS is efficient and is a good choice for you for the following reasons:
DBaaS Engines
DBaaS offers a wide range of node types, such as MariaDB, MySQL, and PostgreSQL, that fit a range of database Use Cases. Each of them has its share of advantages. They come with a default set of alerts used for system monitoring. You can also create additional alerts on the basis of need. The clients need to decide on the number of slaves and configure their setup with the required capacity.

Backup Options
When you create a DBaaS on MyAccount, you can also enable Binlogs backup. This backup will allow you to send a copy of your database to a storage bucket.
Activating the Binlogs backup is free, but you will have to pay for the bucket in which the data is being backed up.
Snapshots
Another backup option is scheduling snapshots. You can schedule the snapshots such that they are taken at the same time every day. This will also help you keep track of the data that is being generated on a regular basis.
At E2E, our DBaaS services are meant to make it easier for you to manage your data and navigate the infrastructure. You can get in touch with our sales team for any queries you may have!
