Ecstatic. Grateful. And procrastination.
I am feeling ecstatic. Nowadays, when I meet up with somebody, they would tell me, “you’re really active in social media these days”. “Yes, I am!” I really am. For the past 99 days, I have been putting up a post a day. Sometimes more when I am really feeling up to it.
And it all began on 17th of July, 2019. I still remember that faithful morning. While I was cruising my way to work along the MEX highway, I was listening to a Gary Vee’s podcast on Spotify. And in this particular podcast, he was talking about the importance of contents creations in different social media platforms in this modern marketing day. The contents that we should be creating would need to serve the audience and it needs to be a lot. Like 100 contents per day a lot. And then, he went to telling this young lady, “just start with one content per day”. So, there I was. Sitting there thinking, “well, I can do that too.”. One content per day. Why not?
1. I have been in the workforce for more than 20 years now, that’s got to count for something! I have so much experience & stories that I could share with everyone, I supposed.
2. I am relevantly new to Marketing & I need to learn how to do this anyway to manage Marketing. And I’ve always tell people that the best way to learn is to actually do it yourself. So, what better way but to literally practice what I preach.
3. Honestly, I have always wanted to write a book. About my experience. So, this would be my baby step, I guess. One content per day.
And so, I did. Every day, I would create contents. Every. Single Day. Rain or shine. Contents for Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and of course, LinkedIn. I created every single one of them. And I am really growing to love this new ritual of mine. Every day I would write something about what I have learnt yesterday. It makes me sit down and reflect the day before, thinking what is the most important thing the day had reminded and taught me. For, really, as cliché as it sounds, we do learn something new every day. And today I have learnt that this had actually brought me so much joy.
And because of that, I am feeling grateful. To the people around me. To the ones who had bonded with me to create new contents together. To the ones who had supported me with new ideas. To the ones who had given me honest feedback (especially the nasty ones, really) so we could learn from one another. To the ones who had liked, who had commented, and who had shared my posts, giving me the assurance that my contents are okay. And especially to the ones who wrote to me personally and told me that my daily posts had encouraged & inspired them, for they have too encouraged & inspired me the same to continue creating contents and learning to be a better person. Yes, I am feeling really grateful.
So.
Procrastination. It all began on that day, 17th of July 2019. There is no significant meaning to that date. Not a birthday. Not an anniversary. It’s just another Wednesday. The day I started my 1 post/day. What I want to say is, if you want to do something that is going to get you closer to your goal, just do it. Just start. You’ll never know what the journey may bring you. Any day is going to be a good day. Especially today.
Happy 100th day to me.
