The Edge Round-Up: Mandatory Climate-Related Financial Disclosure
The Edge Round-Up brings you the essential updates on sustainability in Australia and around the globe.
In this month's Round-Up, we explore the latest developments in Mandatory Climate-Related Financial Disclosure, offering guidance on navigating these changes from both a brand and leadership perspective. Additionally, we share practical services and resources to help organisations prepare effectively.
A note from Alison Rowe
Edge Impact's CEO
As we close out the financial year, it's an important time to reflect on the evolution of the sustainability program, critical and relevant for many industries, to the ESG strategy aiming to address climate change, human rights, equity, nature and more.
There's a growing demand to integrate ESG into core business strategies, which has also seen a change in not only who is interested in the ESG strategy but who owns ESG in a company.
Recent research by Spencer Stuart and Diligent Institute, involving over 800 global board directors, reveals that 96% of directors expect a continued or stronger focus on ESG in the next five years. However, 42% of them seek clearer connections between ESG goals and business strategy, with internal competition being the biggest hurdle in developing and integrating ESG strategies.
It's no wonder that the role of the Chief Sustainability Officer is more critical than ever, as they work across businesses, through supply chains, and within communities to design and integrate impactful strategies.
As we look ahead to the coming year, where mandatory disclosure reporting will affect many companies and their supply chains globally, and Australia launches the world’s first nature market, measurement, commerciality, transparency and impact will remain core to integrating ESG into business strategy. At Edge, we're looking forward to continue creating transformative impact together.
Warm Regards,
