Edition 5 - December 3, 2024
Hello, advocates for global health 👋
We're thrilled to bring you the December edition of the PIH Pulse!
This time of year reminds us how every contribution—no matter the size—plays a critical role in supporting our mission to provide high-quality health care to those who need it most. As seen in the documentary Bending the Arc, even a small group of individuals can build a global movement 🌎
We hope you will join us this #GivingTuesday to help continue our vital work. Your support helps us provide essential care, drive change, and build a healthier, more just world for all.
We’ve also created some great resources with other ways to support PIH, to help you get involved, and to amplify your impact.
We’re so grateful for your generosity and commitment.
Let’s dive in 💫 keep scrolling to explore all the exciting updates we have for you this month!
Featured stories 📚
🎥 Bending The Arc
Decades before tackling Ebola and COVID-19, Dr. Paul Farmer, Dr. Jim Yong Kim, and Ophelia Dahl founded Partners In Health, launching a movement that transformed global health. Bending the Arc tells their inspiring story of challenging a system that deemed quality care for the poor “unsustainable.” Their revolutionary approach—treating all with dignity and world-class medicine—changed public health forever.
🧡 Ways to Support PIH
The challenges we face, from deadly infectious diseases to malnutrition, climate change, and maternal mortality, have a devastating impact on the world’s most marginalized. Whether you want to start a fundraiser, join PIH Engage, advocate for health equity, or support through donation, every effort helps bring quality health care to those who need it most.
🎤 Paul Farmer Symposium
In case you missed it, the 2024 Paul Farmer Symposium on Global Health Equity: The Audacity of Accompaniment celebrated Dr. Paul Farmer’s legacy and explored how accompaniment continues to guide global health efforts. Inspired by Dr. Arthur Kleinman’s article, Paul Farmer and the Audacity of Accompaniment, this year’s theme underscored the transformative power of accompaniment in creating a more just world.
