Eight Steps to Navigating Snipers Alley for busy executive men

Eight Steps to Navigating Snipers Alley for busy executive men

I was chatting to a client the other day about getting older and the effect it can have on our health and fitness. We were laughing because we admitted that we don't feel our age BUT, it is taking longer to recover when we train hard.

I hate it, because mentally I still think I'm 20! 🤪

And it got me thinking about the busy executive men that I work with and their challenges when they first approach me.

Very successful professionally, often they've played sport to a high level and very driven. So driven, in fact that by the time they look up they're in the grips of Snipers Alley and it's their health and fitness that's suffered.

Here's the thing, approaching Snipers Alley doesn't have to feel like falling off a cliff. It's a mental game and a strong mindset going into it is what matters if you're going to navigate it successfully.

So, with that in mind I've put together some points to help in preparation or they may trigger some alternative thoughts if you are in the throws of Snipers Alley.

Dodge those Snipers Alley bullets and keep your health and fitness game on point.

Here's how you can avoid getting trapped in the crossfire:

Step one: don't be a couch potato and regularly evaluate your fitness goals and priorities. Figure out what you want to achieve and what matters most to you. It's like aiming for the bullseye, you gotta know where you're going to hit it!

Step two: surround yourself with a posse of supportive people. Fitness buddies, workout/exercise pal, and even your family and friends can help you stay on track and give you some much-needed motivation and encouragement.

Step three: don't overdo it and exhaust yourself. Prioritize your workouts and listen to your body. Rest when you need to and don't feel guilty about taking a break. It's better to have a solid foundation than to burn out.

Step four: keep up with the latest fitness trends and advancements. Attend fitness expos, try new classes and workouts, and stay informed about the latest research. Don't be that person who's stuck in the old-school gym routine.

Step five: take care of yourself physically and mentally. Get your sweat on, eat your veggies, and protect your sleep. Do an honest audit on your booze intake and how much of an effect it's having on your recovery and daily outlook in life.

And if you need help, don't be afraid to ask for it. There's no shame in seeking a little assistance from an expert, there's no need to suffer in silence.

You're future self will thank you for it.

Step six: Stay positive and focused on your goals, even when the going gets tough. Practicing mindfulness and gratitude can help reduce stress and promote well-being. And remember, every step you take, no matter how small, is still a step forward.

Step seven: plan your fitness and lifestyle journey like you plan your work projects. Set some goals, create a plan, and regularly evaluate your progress. You wouldn't just wing it on , so don't wing submitting a business plan so why would you do it in your life.

Step eight: don't be afraid to try new things and challenge yourself. Take on new workouts, challenges mentally push your limits, and step out of your comfort zone. You'll expand your skills, get stronger, and have fun in the process.
