Embarking on a new vision and chapter for our media business
For more than five decades, Walmart has been a connection point between its customers and the brands they love.
Today we announced an expanded vision and new name for our media business, now called Walmart Connect, reflecting our core strength to accelerate those meaningful connections like no other retailer can. Every year, 90% of America shops at Walmart'. We are in a unique position to create ways for partners to be top of mind in Walmart stores, on our digital properties, and across the internet in a way that is additive to 150 million weekly customers' experiences '.
As a result of that, our media business has nearly doubled in revenue and more than doubled our net new advertisers in the last year, and I couldn't be prouder of how quickly we've grown this business. We're at an exciting moment of growth and innovation. Combining the reach of Walmart's vast omnichannel presence, the power of our closed-loop measurement, and the deep understanding of our customer base, we can bring brands measurably closer to their intended audience no matter how and where they shop.
Embarking on this new vision represents the start of a new chapter for us at Walmart and Walmart Connect. Our media business will focus on three strategic areas of growth:
Growing offerings across Walmart's digital properties
We will continue offering holistic advertising opportunities on our native digital properties, including Walmart.com, pickup & delivery, and the Walmart App, and deepen our partnerships with our advertisers across the digital shopper experience.
Introducing innovative in-store experiences
We are unveiling new omni capabilities that allow our advertisers to reach Walmart's millions of customers who shop in our physical stores each week. We are now offering media activations on in-store TV walls and self-checkout screens with nearly 170,000 digital screens across 4,500+ stores nationwide. These advancements make Walmart Connect one of the largest in-store activations and digital out-of-home ad platforms in the country. We will continue to ramp up our in-store offerings in the near-term through innovative and experiential advertising offerings to create new outlets for our advertisers to reach their desired customers.
Expanding offsite media opportunities at scale
We will be leveraging our unparalleled first-party customer data to drive media performance for advertisers outside of Walmart's proprietary sites. Today, we officially announced a partnership with the world's leading AdTech company, The Trade Desk, to launch a first-of-its-kind demand-side [DSP] platform for suppliers and their media and ad agencies in time for the 2021 holiday season. This DSP will combine the best-in-class technology and performance of The Trade Desk platform with the robust scale of Walmart shopping data, ultimately allowing our advertisers to drive more effectiveness with their overall media spend.
It's exciting to see our strategy come together in a way that drives growth for our business, creates value for our partners, and, most importantly, creates a better, more comprehensive shopping experience for our customers.
