Embrace Wellness Through Movement

Embrace Wellness Through Movement

My exercise journey is long, hard, and a massive growth experience. It has taken me years to figure out what works for me. I used to think exercise was all about how I looked; I was obsessed.

I trained twice a day, counted calories, and was very inflexible. At the time I thought I was healthy.

Now, exercise is about how I feel in the moment and how I want to feel for my future self. It's flexible. It's fun. It's part of my wellness strategy.

Moving regularly, even through a simple daily walk, benefits both my physical and mental health. Movement gives me clarity and allows me to think and reflect. Some of my best ideas come when I move my body.

Movement also helps with feeling less stressed, and helps me to sleep better. When I combine this with being outdoors or exercising with friends, it's a double whammy of what works for my wellness strategy.

I do believe movement and exercise are essential to wellbeing, but I don't believe it needs to be hard, stressful, or unenjoyable (although sometimes it is) and it shouldn't get in the way of how you want to feel.

If you are looking to start moving your body more, ask yourself how you want to feel and be. Take action based on this idea. It has to work for you.

If you want to feel energised, less stressed, or healthy, you will know what you need to do.

If you want to move energy, getting your heart rate up with a run or a spin class may be for you. If you want to feel calm, Yoga or Pilates may be just what you need (note: please consult a medical expert before beginning any new exercise routine).

Movement is ESSENTIAL for mind and body wellbeing! I'm a teacher and copywriter, but I also worked as a personal trainer in the past, and I met so many people merely obsessed with the looks they were chasing through exercising. But physical activity is so much more... My motto has always been "healthy mind in healthy body" (Latin saying, not mine), and I believe the one cannot be without the other. 💕
