Embracing Change
Some of you who follow my journey might know I have been building an office.
A new space, one where I can exert and flex the full extent of my creative muscles.
Has it been stressful. HECK YES!
Would I have not done it had I known how stressful it would of been? Nope.
See, here's the thing with change, it’s going to feel uncomfortable.
You’re stepping into the unknown.
The rate of change we are experiencing in industry and the world at large with AI is frighteningly fast and I believe it’s the people that can adapt to that change the quickest who will win.
So how do we adapt and embrace the unknown?
LET GO
In times of change, it's often our instinct to jump into action immediately. However, I'd like to suggest a different approach. Instead of reacting hastily, take a step back. When unexpected change occurs, resist the urge to over-react. Go for a leisurely walk, allow yourself to calm down, and take some time to contemplate the situation. Sometimes, it's best to sleep on it and wake up with a fresh perspective or even a well-thought-out action plan. Take a moment to weigh the pros and cons of the change, and assess its long-term significance. Consider what truly matters to you in the grand scheme of things.
FEEL THE FEAR AND DO IT ANYWAY
Resist the primal urge to engage in the "fight or flee" response when faced with change. It's entirely normal to feel the need to either confront the situation aggressively or withdraw defensively. Instead, I recommend you set aside those instinctual reactions and find a tranquil space to regain your composure. A good walk along the seafront calms my mind and gives me clarity on any problems at hand.
LOOK AT THINGS FROM A NEW ANGLE

Maintain a practice of continually seeking fresh perspectives. The impact of change is less jarring when you've been consistently expanding your knowledge and viewpoints, as part of your dedication to becoming a more well-rounded individual. Change tends to catch off guard those who are entrenched in a narrow outlook or a fixed routine. By actively embracing new information and occasionally altering your daily patterns, you're effectively preparing yourself to ride the ups and downs of life's roller coaster. I do this by actively mixing up my creative days so I don’t get burnt out.
SELF LOVE
In times of unexpected change or disruptions to our routines, it's perfectly fine to prioritize self-care. It's okay to be a bit selfish and look after your own well-being during these moments. This could involve taking a day off to indulge in activities that bring you joy. Perhaps it's savoring a favorite meal, embarking on a leisurely drive to a peaceful spot, or engaging in any other activity that resonates with your happiness. Remember, your happiness is your responsibility, so allocate the time to adapt to the changes by taking care of yourself.
So that’s it. Roll with the punches and move through the fear and pain and who knows...
You might just build something beautiful!
