Diversity is not just a buzzword. It's a core value at Spryker, and our Inclusive Culture & Belonging Partner, ✨Lily Kriegs , is sharing with us why it is so important to create a workplace where every employee feels valued and supported.

As Lily puts it, diversity is not just about meeting quotas but rather fostering an environment where every Sprykee can be their authentic self and discovering the opportunities that lie in our differences.

At Spryker, we believe that creating an inclusive workplace is about building a sense of belonging, "When people feel like they belong at work, they're more engaged, more productive, and more likely to stay with the company long-term."

That's why we've taken several steps to embrace diversity, including creating affinity groups, establishing a diversity council, and encouraging our teams to share "How to work with me" guides for better communication. We've also normalized speaking about our backgrounds and needs to foster a workplace culture where every conversation about diversity and differences is approached with compassionate curiosity and a deep respect for one another.

We actively seek out different perspectives

However, creating an inclusive workplace comes with its challenges. According to Lily, one of the biggest challenges is making sure everyone's voice is heard. "It's easy for certain groups to dominate the conversation, whether it's because of their position in the company or their personality."

Creating an inclusive workplace is an ongoing process, and we know we have more to learn and improve upon. As Lily emphasizes, "it's important to be open to feedback and continually strive to do better. Our goal is to create a culture of kindness, trust, and equal opportunities, where every Sprykee feels a strong sense of belonging, empowerment, and well-being. We're committed to improving our BEET metrics (Belonging, Engagement, Enablement, and Trust), and we believe that our dedication to diversity and inclusion will help us achieve this goal.”

We're proud of our commitment to diversity and inclusion at Spryker, and we believe that other companies can learn from our approach.
