In my journey I've come to realize the profound significance of nurturing not just our physical health but our mental health as well. It's easy, especially during tumultuous times, to sideline our mental well-being, focusing predominantly on the physical aspect. Yet, the journey towards genuine self-awareness and self-acceptance begins with acknowledging this oversight. Let me share with you the essence of this journey, one that has transformed me from a state of perpetual worry into a bastion of resilience and emotional stability.
Understanding and accepting our feelings is the first step toward this transformation. It's a process that requires us to delve deep into our emotions, to confront and embrace them rather than shying away. I've experienced firsthand how daunting this can be. Yet, it's through this acceptance that we pave the way for genuine self-awareness, allowing us to transition from a state of constant anxiety to one of emotional fortitude. I want to introduce you to three "mental health boosters" that have been instrumental in my journey: being present, validating your feelings, and engaging in meaningful activities.
The art of being present, or mindfulness, is a powerful tool against the anxiety that future worries or the incessant flow of news can bring. This approach has helped me significantly in managing my anxieties, grounding me in the reality of the moment rather than the uncertainty of the future. It's about appreciating the now, the simplicity of breathing, and the beauty of the present moment. This mindfulness has been a sanctuary for me, a refuge from the storm of worries that once dominated my mind.
Equally important is the practice of feeling and validating our emotions. Society often teaches us to suppress our feelings, to put on a brave face.
