Embracing Excellence and Friendship: My Journey with TMGMA

Embracing Excellence and Friendship: My Journey with TMGMA

Last week was my final Tennessee Medical Group Management Association (TMGMA) conference as a member of the Board, and I would like to take a minute to reflect on my journey with the TMGMA.  The privilege and joy of being a part of such a vibrant and supportive community strike me as I reflect on my previous years of involvement. As a board member and leader, I have had the opportunity to witness firsthand the tremendous expertise and dedication present within this organization. At our conference last week, I was honored to be able to participate as a session speaker, and it reaffirmed my appreciation for the incredible people who make up this group.

The conference, aptly themed "Path to the Future," was a testament to TMGMA's commitment to advancing healthcare management through shared knowledge and collaboration. From the moment I stepped into the Westin Chattanooga, I was greeted by the buzz of enthusiasm and the warmth of familiar faces. The agenda was packed with inspiring and practical sessions, each led by experts who are leaders in their respective fields.

Eddie Slowikowski's "The 4-Minute Formula" session set the tone for the event, challenging us to find our unique strengths and apply them to our professional lives. Jeff Whitehorn's insights in "Critical Leadership Lessons They Don’t Teach You in School" were both eye-opening and relatable, drawing from his extensive experience as a hospital CEO. Each session, whether focused on time management, payer contracting, or the magic of communication, provided valuable takeaways I am eager to implement in my organization.

However, it is not just the wealth of knowledge that makes TMGMA unique; it is the people. Connecting with peers over a networking lunch or during a lively panel discussion is invaluable. Each interaction, whether with a fellow board member or a new acquaintance, is a chance to learn, share, and grow. The camaraderie and support among TMGMA members create a unique environment where professional relationships quickly blossom into genuine friendships.

Being part of TMGMA has been a humbling and enriching experience. It is a community where excellence is not just a goal but a shared journey. The friendships I have developed here are a cherished aspect of my involvement, adding a layer of personal fulfillment to my professional endeavors.

As I look to the future, I am excited to continue working alongside such talented and dedicated individuals. With the help and support of this incredible community, we are shaping the future of healthcare management together. It has been a privilege to serve and grow with TMGMA, and I am grateful for the lasting relationships forged through this journey.

Here's to the continued success and camaraderie of TMGMA—a testament to what can be achieved when passionate professionals come together with a common purpose, genuinely love what they do, and have fun with those they work with.  Thank you for the opportunity, the memories, and the knowledge.

Thanks for your leadership
