Embracing Failures and Finding Liberation

Hello LinkedIn community,

Life is a journey filled with ups and downs, and how we perceive our failures profoundly influences our path forward. Are failures setbacks or feedback? This question can shape our outlook, and my mentor, Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha, shared invaluable wisdom that has helped me bounce back during challenging times.

1. "This too shall pass"

In moments of despair, remembering that challenges are transient provides solace. The belief that difficult times are temporary encourages resilience and a positive outlook.

2. "Everything will strengthen me"

Failures are not signs of weakness but opportunities for growth. Each setback is a chance to build resilience, learn, and emerge stronger than before. Embracing this mindset transforms obstacles into stepping stones.

3. "See all failures as a challenge or a test"

Every failure holds a lesson. Viewing setbacks as challenges or tests allows us to approach them with curiosity and determination. What may seem like a stumbling block could be the stepping stone to something greater.

One of my personal challenges was dealing with stacks of paper clutter in my home and office. Despite numerous attempts to clean up, the mess persisted. It led me to introspect and discover a hidden fear – the Fear of Missing Out (FOMO). I held onto ideas and references, thinking I'd tackle them "one day." That day never arrived.

A recent epiphany changed my perspective. Adopting a new FOMO – "Focus on Me Only" – where "Me" represents life, the present moment, and what the Now calls me to do. This shift allowed me to understand that "This Is It," echoing the sentiments of James Broughton's poem "This is it":

This is It This is really It. This is all there is. And it’s perfect as It is. There is nowhere to go but Here. There is nothing here but Now. There is nothing now but This. And this is It. This is really It. This is all there is. And It’s perfect as It is.

Instead of dwelling on the past or fearing the future, I've learned to trust the present. The failures I faced became a catalyst for this liberating insight – all I need will be available to me in the now. Life exists in the present, and it is complete and perfect as it is.

So, if you find yourself grappling with failures, remember: Do not be hard on yourself, and do not hoard. Trust Life. This moment, right now, is where everything you need resides. Embrace it fully, and watch how life unfolds beautifully.

Interesting..I quite like the concept of FOMO as Focus only on myself..we are so caught up in trying to catch up with our own racing thoughts sometimes, and guilty of wanting to do too much..that we forget that the NOW is equally important #reflection #leadershipdevelopement
