Empowering LGBTQ+ Leaders Amidst Uncertainty: A Celebration of Resilience and Generosity

Empowering LGBTQ+ Leaders Amidst Uncertainty: A Celebration of Resilience and Generosity

$900,000. That’s the record-breaking amount we raised to support our LGBTQ+ scholars, just days after an election that may have left many in our community feeling uncertain or scared.

As I prepared my remarks for the evening, I wanted to convey a message that reflected my current reality. I spoke to the resilience and determination that define this community, and the need to stay vigilant and prepared in the face of changing tides.

  • We've been here before. The road won't be easy, but we will prevail.
  • The country made a clear statement. Take note and be prepared.
  • There is a powerful resilience that comes from community. Lean on yours.

Seattle showed up strong for our future leaders and I am so proud of the GSBA staff, who fueled every dollar.

Special shout out to my co-chair, Jenny Harding, and the brilliant minds leading the event, Scholarship & Education Fund Director, Stacy Harbour-Van Hoy, and GSBA Deputy Director, Christopher Marcacci.
