EURO 2024 JOURNEY: LESSONS IN RESILIENCE & SUCCESS

EURO 2024 JOURNEY: LESSONS IN RESILIENCE & SUCCESS

England’s journey through the Euros has been nothing short of a rollercoaster—full of highs, lows, and nail-biting moments (especially the semi-final!). But amidst the chaos, there are some powerful lessons that we can take onboard as businesses.

  • Believe in Your Goals: Just like the England team believed in their potential to win, you need to have unwavering faith in your business vision. If you don't completely back and believe in them, you won't take action. So do you believe?
  • Surround Yourself with Support: Just like the England team have management, trainers, team members and fans, we also need this in business. Who are you not engaging with that can help you? The right network is essential, whether mentors/coaches, a great team, training, suppliers and such like.
  • Leadership Matters: Leadership is not just about leading a team, but leading YOURSELF. Are you holding yourself and your team accountable, and showing behaviour that are congruent with where you are heading? What more can you do?
  • Learning and Progression: We all have to continue to learn - otherwise, we get the same results as we've always got; and the world is a'changin' and we need to keep up, hey? Are you dedicating time to improve your skills and strategies? Constant learning and adapting is key.
  • Focus on Winning, Not Just Surviving: For me - this is a big one - why not aim high? It takes as much effort to aim high, as it does to meet a mediocre goal. Do you feel you are just getting by, or aiming for the big success?
  • Celebrate Successes: Celebrate your wins and use them to fuel further progress.

Running a business, much like winning a football tournament, requires strategy, belief, and the right support system.

Have a go at answering some of the questions I've posed above.

What one action can you take?

If you're watching the game on Sunday, enjoy! We're off to St Marys Stadium to watch it with the kids (bit of a late night, but hey.... it's a very rare occasion!)

Victoria :)
