Winners Announced for Coveted Launchpad Competition at Event Tech Live 2024

Last week, Excel London played host to the prestigious Launchpad Competition during Event Tech Live 2024, celebrating innovation and ingenuity in the event technology sector. Designed to give startups a platform to shine, the competition offered participants the chance to exhibit alongside industry giants, with vital funding support from Event Industry News.

This year’s competition saw a flurry of excitement as startups showcased their one-minute explainer videos ahead of the show, inviting Event Industry News readers to vote for their favourites. The top three startups were then invited to pitch live on stage during Day 2 of Event Tech Live, presenting their groundbreaking ideas to a panel of industry experts and judges.

The Network Of Women In Events launches the third year of their renowned industry mentoring scheme

The Network of Women in Events (NOWIE) has announced the return of their annual event industry mentoring scheme, Level Up. The programme pairs women in their junior to mid-career with an experienced mentor, providing tailored support to participants as they navigate challenges, transitions and next steps in their professional journey. Established in 2013, NOWIE has recently reformed as a Community Interest Company, and strives to create better opportunities for women in the events sector at all stages of their career, through networking, community and improved representation. Now in its third year, and following a recent rebrand, Level Up makes its highly anticipated return following an overwhelming response and demand during the 2024 programme. Applications are open from Monday 25th November, with successful applicants expected to receive their pairings before the end of the year.

Celtic Manor Resort renames conference centre in memory of Ian Edwards

The meetings and events facilities at the Celtic Manor Resort have been renamed the Ian Edwards Conference Centre to celebrate the memory of the venue’s long-serving Chief Executive Officer, who sadly passed away last month.

Ian was the conference centre manager when the Resort Hotel opened in 1999 and, after returning to Celtic Manor in 2008, he played a huge part in attracting and delivering a wide variety of successful events within the facilities that now bear his name.
