Finding Your Tribe As A Female Entrepreneur

Finding Your Tribe As A Female Entrepreneur

Being a female entrepreneur certainly has its moments. There are high highs and low lows. It can be exciting, joyful and lift you up every day, but it can also be lonely, full of decision fatigue and the juggling which never leaves a working mum.

But what truly makes a difference in this world is the power of #connection and the support of a vibrant community.

When we launched Eir Women this year, I also joined a community called Powerful Steps by Tory Archbold . I’ve known Tory for almost 20 years, and felt that developing my network of strong females in leadership and entrepreneurship would be timely as I set out on this new path.

10 months later, I have a network of strong, smart and frankly amazing women who I can call, collaborate with and who work together to lift each other up.

So this post is about the importance of finding your tribe. As women we do this naturally, whether it is work, school, kids sports, and business ownership.

This is what I’ve learnt.

1. Embracing Collaboration over Competition

Gone are the days of cutthroat competition. Today, the most successful female entrepreneurs understand the value of collaboration and building meaningful connections. By joining forces with like-minded individuals and complementing each other's strengths, you can achieve more together than you ever could alone. By fostering a collaborative environment, you can create a community that celebrates and lifts each other up.

 2. Overcoming Isolation and Loneliness

Entrepreneurship can be a lonely journey, especially when faced with the challenges and uncertainties that come with running your own business. Finding a supportive community will not only help you combat isolation but also provide a safe space to share successes, fears, and struggles. Trust me on this one.

3. Sharing Knowledge and Learning from Others

One of the greatest benefits of being part of a supportive community is the opportunity to learn from others who have walked a similar path, or just getting a second opinion. By sharing knowledge and experiences, as well as listening to the stories of others, you can gain valuable insights and strategies to accelerate your own growth.

4. Amplifying Your Voice and Visibility

Building a supportive community not only provides a platform to amplify your message but also increases your visibility and credibility. By having a strong tribe, we are each shining a spotlight on our achievements and inspiring each other to dream big.

What has been amazing is to build connections that I never would have otherwise, from all different walks of life and experience, as well as from different parts of Australia and Internationally. I now have a strong network of supportive women who genuinely care about my success. They’ve also pushed me to get out of my comfort zone and to do things like this.

It's a pleasure to be on the journey. You are bang-on re: the tribe. It's been identified in many research reports as one of the Top 5 perceived barriers to success for women entrepreneurs. And you also need to make sure your tribe is authentic. Trial and error there! You and Kate Guaran have achieved so much already. Big things to come xox
