FNB Namibia Chinese Business Bankers

FNB Namibia Chinese Business Bankers

FNB Namibia is pleased to announce the appointment of Onnie Negonga as the Commercial Client Portfolio Manager for Chinese Banking, and Anna Nambahu as its Relationship Analyst, effective 1 May 2023.

Nambahu’s role is to act as the primary point of contact for her defined customer portfolio, keeping up to date with market trends and achieving agreed-upon sales targets by establishing new banking relationships and growing existing ones with Chinese customers. She will also perform complex research and analysis of business growth opportunities and manage credit risk in compliance with regulatory procedures and requirements.

Nambahu has been an important member of the FNB Namibia team for seven years. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Design and Merchandising, at the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing China. Additionally, she has lived in China for over 11 years and has achieved a level 5 HSK certification in Mandarin. In her free time, Nambahu enjoys traveling and exploring her passion for art. Nambahu lives by the quote, "Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail" by Ralph Waldo Emerson

Negonga will focus on enabling the growth of the Chinese commercial client base by facilitating future expansion and safeguarding existing client business interests. He will deepen relationships within the commercial segment by delivering innovative financial solutions that meet the specific needs of clients in the areas of Transacting, Investing, Insuring, and Lending.

Negonga brings a wealth of experience to the role, having worked in business banking and the financial industry, including at B2Gold Namibia and Bank of Namibia before rejoining FNB Namibia. He holds a master’s degree in Business Administration specializing in Finance, a B. Com degree in Accounting and Business Management from the University of Namibia, and is currently pursuing an LLB. Negonga previously served as the SME Business Development Manager at FNB Namibia before returning to his new position.

The importance of growing the Chinese client base has been recognised by FNB as Namibia and China develop closer economic relations, with trade increasing two-fold between the two countries. To achieve FNB's commercial strategy, Negonga and his team will need to maximize portfolio returns within set risk parameters, while taking advantage of cross-selling opportunities and enhancing the client experience. The Chinese desk at FNB has a dedicated team that can communicate fluently in Mandarin, which will benefit clients and other important stakeholders.

Negonga shares his excitement about returning to FNB, stating that he aims to create a positive customer experience impact and contribute significantly to the institution vision through innovative solutions and meaningful collaborations to ensure sustainable growth.
