Food (Waste) For Thought
What was your favorite childhood Halloween treat? Candy corn? Dirt in a cup with gummy worms? This October, as you enjoy the fall weather and kick off the holiday season, I encourage you to take one small step to reduce your Halloween waste—whether that’s repurposing a secondhand costume or skipping fake cobwebs (which are often made from plastic, don’t biodegrade, and can harm wildlife). Scroll down to learn more about our current work and find our list of curated resources for fall waste reduction.
Worm wishes,

Congratulations to Cheatham School!
In August and September, we teamed up with Rutabaga Gardening to help educators spread the word that composting is cool this back-to-school season. Thank you to all of the schools who entered our contest and congratulations to Cheatham School in Laveen, Arizona who won three sets of Kids 4-Pack Garden Tools and one set of Garden-Based Science Education Curriculum from Rutabaga Gardening (a $327 prize value) for their school! Stay tuned for additional opportunities later this school year. 🧑🌾♻️🪱
