FORGE & HEADING TECHNOLOGY ADVANCEMENTS TO PRESS PRODUCTIVITY

The 1600 ton hot forge press (left) was just installed in Mexico City and will be CV Joints for Nissan and other automotive suppliers.
Our client had historically purchased used National or Ajax presses and then invested in a costly complete rebuild process. After evaluating the cost and time on another rebuilt press, they chose to go with a new 1600 ton Sutherland which has far more productivity enhancing features, faster delivery time and a full warranty.
When you rebuild an old National, Ajax or Erie forge press, you end up with 1950's technology and none of the features that a modern forger can benefit from. Our I-FORGE control offers: tonnage monitor for every stroke, thermal bearing sensors with LED display, automatic centralized grease lube system, hydraulic lower ejectors can be programmed at the I-FORGE control, motorized slide adjustment for depth setting of dies, hydraulic un-sticking device to free stuck dies near BDC / bottom dead center, massive die set holders with quick die change and man more cool features.
The 1000 ton hot forge and 176 ton trim press (below) is installed in a major hand tool maker and runs 3 shifts, 7 days per week.
Our Mark Series and KC Series single point gap frames are ideal for trim presses. We have added heat shields, moved controls and even made cutouts below bolster for steel belt conveyor scrap removal.
If you are in the hot heading business you will want to learn about our FLST / front loading sliding table SP1 and HCP Series. The FLST unit from Sutherland not only increases production output but operator safety and improved ergonomics. We have engineered models from 88 ton to 660 ton and some of the fastest lead-times in the industry.
