I interviewed Saku Tuominen from HundrED to know more about the Future of Education.
HundrEd is a non-for profit organisation that discovers, researches and shares impactful and scalable K12 innovations with the world, for free. At Hundred, they believe that "education is already being improved all over the world by inspiring educators, passionate individuals and caring organizations." So, they discover these amazing practices and help others find out about them.
On his interview, Saku gave me useful insights, such as:
- “The way we measure Education (PISA for instance) does not take into account crucial 21st-century skills such as soft skills."
- “We should start asking ourselves key questions such as why we do what we do but also “what is the purpose of Education?” and “why”...
For him, 3 key ideas to improving Education, globally could be:
- "Increasing cooperation at an international level to cut out the silos".
- "Improving the bottom-up approach by giving more freedom to the teachers".
- "Changing our mindset and accepting that not everything will work"…
