🔴 #FUTURE of #MARKETING: #GenZ and 4 Main Factors

🔶️ GenZ is the Future. They are the digi-tech generation and are the key to the future success of Marketing.

THINK FUTURE

🔶️ One of the 60 forecasting principles presented in my book latest 5-Star book "THINK FUTURE" (see below on how to get your copy) is that "Society Literally Regenerates Itself with Each New Generation."

🔶️ To see the future of marketing, just ask the next generation of customers, Generation Z, who are also your new generation of employees. Indeed, pay close attention, because most future CEOs will be from GenZ.

Gen Z Customer

🔶️ Every GenZ employee is a customer somewhere -- probably including your own brands.

🔶️ And your GenZ employees can offer fresh insights in terms of how the marketplace is shifting.

🔶️ Indeed, along with digi-tech, they are in process of totally reinventing the consumer marketplace.

🔴 4 MAIN FACTORS

🔶️ Their 4 major issues of concern, which drive their consumer (and employee) behavior, are:

🔴 1. DEIB: Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Belonging.

DEIB

🔶️ GenZ will tell you that your company and its brands must reflect your consumer community in all dimensions of DEIB.

🔴 2. Sustainability: Packaging, Recycling, Environment.

Sustainability

🔶️ Environmental sustainability is front of mind to GenZ and is critical in terms of packaging, point of sale, and product re-use and recycling.

🔴 3. Authenticity: Honest Marketing, No Influencers, Trust

Authenticity

🔶️ To reach GenZ, brands must build trust, and marketing campaigns must have genuine meaning and relevance.

🔶️ They want authentic and honest products and marketing, not hype by celebrities and influencers. GenZ scoffs at such.

🔴 Purpose: Brand/Business Purpose in Sync with Life Purpose.

Life Purpose

🔶️ GenZ has a different life purpose than prior generations, in some cases radically so, as Covid has made obvious.

🔶️ They don't just want Work-Life Balance but Life-Work Integration. Life comes first. They want to live their life from anywhere, anyplace, anytime.

🔶️ They want to work remotely and to shop online. As such, this is the beginning of the end of brick-n-mortar retailing. They shop at Amazon.

🔴 IN SUM ...

🔶️ Consider these factors carefully and you will retain GenZ both as loyal employees and loyal customers.

🔶️ Ignore these factors, and you will become obsolete. Of this I am certain.

Don’t forget or overlook Gen Alpha, the latest addition to generational cohorts. This generation, sometimes referred to as “mini millennials" because they are the children of Millennials or Gen Z, are believed to have a really close relationship with their parents and are likely to have similar consumer-behaviour habits. Of importance, this is the first to be born entirely in the 21st century —in a fully digital world. Gen Alpha is also expected to be the largest generation in history with over 2 billion people by 2025. With these unignorable numbers, this young cohort will have a lot of buying power. Companies, therefore, need to prepare their marketing strategies, accordingly. Do do otherwise, would be foolish. Here's what brands and companies need to know about this next generation of consumers.
