In particular, the U.S. — especially Miami — continues to experience substantial growth as Family Offices and UHNWI increasingly choose it as their home base. Since COVID-19, Miami’s favourable tax environment and climate have accelerated this trend, transforming the area into a vibrant hub for wealth and investment.

Not only has this migration reshaped the local economy, but it has also attracted new founders and high-growth investments, signalling that Family Offices are moving beyond wealth preservation to actively fuel innovation.

Beyond the Boardroom: The Thrilling Hobbies and Passions Pursued by High-Net-Worth Individuals

We observed that, as usual, many UK Family Offices have chosen to spend time in warmer climates leading up to the UK Budget. However, this year, many have opted to establish residency in popular destinations such as Portugal, Miami, and Italy, as well as emerging spots like Romania and Panama.

 Additionally, many UK-based founders who have successfully raised capital and scaled their ventures are relocating abroad to pursue growth in dynamic markets like Dubai, the USA, and the Far East. This trend underscores a shift towards international expansion and diversification among Family Offices and successful entrepreneurs.

FOOTPRINTS EVENTS 2024 – REFLECTION

Our Summer Global Conference this year was our most well-received event in over 14 years. 

However, our October Autumn Cocktail Evening saw a smaller turnout, with only 35 attendees and 12 UK Family Offices represented. This quieter attendance was anticipated, yet the Family Offices who joined appreciated the intimacy and high-quality networking that a smaller crowd allowed.

With this feedback in mind, we plan to keep our 2025 Cocktail Evenings intentionally selective, maintaining a lower attendance to foster meaningful connections. Our Day Conferences will also be capped at under 80 attendees to ensure a focused and impactful experience.

Key Trends in Family Office Investments and Alternative Assets for 2025

1. Rise of Passive Funds for Family Offices As highlighted by Karl Rogers of Elkstone Partners, who frequently speaks at our events, Family Offices are increasingly turning to passive funds. Read more here.

3. Investment Focus for Global Family Offices in 2025 According to Family Wealth Report, Global Family Offices will continue to prioritize fintech, property, and debt, alongside sustained interest in AI, HealthTech, Biotech, and Pharma. In 2024, we saw increased interest in alternative investments, including property projects, land parcels (e.g., LandQuire USA, which was presented at two of our London events), and Web 3. Digital assets also attracted attention, with one UHN USA investing in a UK founder from our Summer Conference.
4. Emerging Focus on ESG/Impact Ventures and Alternative Assets Alternative assets such as whiskey, gold, fine wine, and art remain on the radar. We’ve seen continued interest from Family Offices in ESG-focused and impact-driven ventures, like The Factory-Y, which performed well following its spotlight at our Summer Conference in 2024. Notably, Seven Starts Legal, who presented twice at our events in 2024, attracted significant Family Office interest and is currently undergoing due diligence with one investor.
5. The Boom of Wealth Among Family Office Advisors An intriguing trend in 2024 has been the growing wealth of Family Office advisors, who, in some cases, are accumulating wealth at a pace comparable to their clients. Read more here.

Looking ahead to 2025, we anticipate further growth in these areas as Family Offices expand their alternative and impact-oriented portfolios.
