The Gatekeepers of the Colonial World

The Gatekeepers of the Colonial World

It is the great irony of society that those who are supposed to speak the loudest are the most silent during the time of crisis. I am pointing towards the role of academia and the academicians in the search of truth and the emancipation of human society at the time of its greatest crisis. When colonialism was devastating the whole of mankind including India, China, West Asia and Africa Africa the  academic world of the colonists were simply silent. The reason of silence lies in the seeds of colonial capitalism where everything is "profit" including the soul of humanity.

The West felt proud of its intellectual and academic freedom but when it came to colonization it was simply forgotten. The academia of the west which pointed out the constitutional mistakes of its own government to the minutest level somehow were suffering from amnesia when the rights of the humankind were trampled. What made the academic world of the West hold back the truth when it was supposed to be spoken the most. I have a reason which they do not actually mention out in the open. The western academia was waiting for the correct time to profit from their intellectual enterprises just like a businessman waits for the correct market time to launch its products. The idea is to gain the maximum profit without offending the establishment of the day.

The correct market time came in the 1950s when there was a huge decolonization of the countries of the world. Many countries gained freedom and the colonial world also wanted a reset after almost 300 years of the same model of colonization. While decolonization was happening and the colonial power was preparing for neo-colonialism it was a transition period. This was the perfect time to launch a wave of decolonization literature in the academic world as there were no consequences from the establishment.

It was time to prepare the minds of the colonized people for neocolonialism in an academic way by abusing the colonial period. The colonized mind felt happy seeing the colonial period destroyed academically by the western academia. But what the colonized people did not realize was that they were being prepared for the incoming neocolonialism and neo imperialism. Their minds were being captured again by the same colonial academia.

The western academic world was demonizing classical colonialism so that it would be easy to introduce neocolonialism in the world. The colonial academia was earlier also serving their masters by their silence and in the post-colonial period they were again serving their masters by their activism. The reason was that they did not want the post colonial literature to go into the hands of the sufferers. It was a simple strategy. The hunters must write their own stories again and again to demonize the lions. Further it was the time to profit from the academic world just like the colonial academic world profited years before.

This is the  reason we witness the mushrooming of decolonization studies in the biggest of the universities worldwide. It became a profitable business to talk about decolonization when the colonization has already ended. It's something like that when a man is requiring medicine at that time the doctor is not giving the medicine but the medicine is given when the patient is dead and gone. It was the same academic world which never protested academically when colonialism killed humanity but was tutoring the world against its effects now. These academicians of the western world became heroes and many went on to become stalwarts in their fields without even having a single moral remorse. The colonial academic world simply believes in profit making and has no interest in telling the truth or its emancipation.

This is the same scenario happening right now before our eyes. History is repeating itself as a second time and everyone can see its farcical nature. The neocolonialism is ravaging the world in the form of wars, genocide and usurpation of the rights of the natives but there is complete silence from the academia. They are waiting for their right time to profit from it. Telling the truth is not their job but making money is surely their vocation.

Once this genocide in West Asia is over the academic world from the neocolonial world would lecture the entire world of its harmful effects. Again universities and its academics would immensely profit from it. They would invent beautiful theories, paradigms and constructs in anti-genocide studies to distract the world so that the neocolonial world prepares the next post neocolonial world. Hundreds and thousands of doctoral and post doctoral thesis would be manufactured from the classrooms of the great colonial universities on the vagaries of war for the sake of profits. Songs, dance, dramas, movies, theatre etc. would find an honorable place to tell the stories of the war and this too would be a profitable enterprise. Colonial capitalism never misses a profitable opportunity including its academia. The truth and benefits to the oppressed people is never on the minds of the colonial academia. The western academia is the gatekeeper of the colonial world.

Please see how hypocritical the world and institutions are. It is sickening that the so-called civil society which fights child rights, climate change are also keeping quiet. Country which preach non -violence is selling arms for the sake business. A country which wages war with 5 different countries simultaneously considers that it is defending itself playing victim card . How can a country which can target leaders in other countries with superior intelligence and technology fail to locate hostages hidden in a territory it controls. Is it a deliberate attempt to wage war using as pretext. These are disturbing questions where we don't get the right answer.

Great insights sir. The silence speaks all, looking for the opportunity raises question on how our history is texted. Violence and inhuman acts of any kind is condemnable in highest order. We talk about humanity but humanity has a lucrative angle of making benefits rasing a question mark on its existence.
