GenAI and creativity: enemies or allies?

Generative AI is powerful to address societal challenges and business problems by expanding and growing the human experience rather than copying or replacing it. Therefore, the businesses that find success with these technologies will be the ones that also harness human-centric capabilities such as creativity, curiosity, and compassion.

The goal is figuring out how humans and machines can work together, resulting in humans’ abilities being multiplied, rather than divided, by machines’ capabilities. It’s up to us to add creativity to use technologies like generative AI to their full potential. For companies, this means creating processes, practices, and policies that empower people to be creative to maximize the power of transformative technologies.

How Generative AI Can Augment Human Creativity

Many people are concerned that generative AI will replace people in many jobs. But one of the major opportunities GenAI offers is to augment human creativity and overcome the challenges of democratizing innovation.

In the past two decades, companies have used crowdsourcing and idea competitions to involve outsiders in innovation processes. However, due to a lack of efficient ways to evaluate or synthesize ideas, many businesses have struggled to capitalize on these contributions.

That's why Generative AI can make a difference and help overcome those challenges. GenAI can supplement the creativity of employees and customers and help them produce and identify unexplored ideas. This article about how Generative AI can augment Human creativity, focuses on how we should use it to promote divergent thinking, challenge expertise bias, assist in idea evaluation, support idea refinement, and facilitate collaboration among people.
