Germany’s PNE AG Seeks Approval for $4.6 Billion Offshore Wind Farm in Vietnam
Germany’s PNE AG is seeking approval from the Vietnamese government to develop a $4.6 billion offshore wind farm, a Reuters report mentions.
If granted, the project would be located in Binh Dinh province and have a capacity of 2,000 megawatts, significantly contributing to Vietnam’s renewable energy goals.
Vietnam aims to enhance its wind and solar energy development, aiming to achieve 6 gigawatts of offshore wind capacity by 2030. However, Reuters reports that this ambition faces challenges due to regulatory hurdles that could impede progress.
PNE’s CEO, Per Hornung Pedersen, visited Binh Dinh province recently to discuss the project with local authorities, indicating the company’s commitment to moving the initiative forward.
The Department of Planning and Investment in Binh Dinh highlighted that PNE has pursued this plan since 2019, demonstrating a long-term interest in contributing to Vietnam’s renewable energy landscape.
During a recent business delegation visit to Vietnam, which included the German president in January, PNE emphasized its interest in developing renewable energy solutions.
